EQUIPMENT
Polyurethane front end incorporating four Cibie quartz halogen headlamps, front air dam, rubberised tail spoiler, twin bodyside coachline, RS2000 decals, laminated windscreen, hazard warning flashers, heated rear window, separate fuel, water temperature and oil pressure gauges, padded sun visors, two-speed heater, aeroflow ventilation with eye ball vents. RS Custom features; Recaro front seats with fishnet headrests, centre console, glovebox, quartz clock, remote control drivers door mirror, bronze tinted glass, full trimmed door cards, cut pile carpeting, vanity mirror, alloy road wheels. Accessories; CD Player.
EXTERIOR
This fabulous RS2000 is finished in iconic Diamond White, (Code XSC-691), boasting an amazing deep show shine with a polished finish that will really impress onlookers. All trim sections, RS decals and badges remain intact and are in excellent order. Unique to the Custom model, Bronze tinted glass is fitted and the rubbers and door seals are soft and black. The polyurethane droop snoot is straight a perfectly colour matched along with all other panels with uniform gaps. The wheel recesses and the underside is spotlessly clean and black waxoyled for protection and use. Correct and desirable Cibie lights are fitted to all four units and the rubberised tail spoiler is straight and undamaged. Perfect for the show circuit.
INTERIOR
Factory build correct Custom trim has been appointed with Chocolate Beta Plus Fabric by renown and trusted experts, Aldridge Trimming Ltd. The undamaged fascia and dash top houses fully functional gauges and equipment and the original simulated leather bound three spoke steering wheel remains fitted in perfect condition. The headrest to the passenger side has a few loose threads. The heater fan works on both settings and the quartz clock requires a tap to work. The cut pile carpets are clean and full and two period door speakers are operational to a modern CD player. The original Custom cut pile carpet remains in the boot and perfectionists will spot the worn but still attached colour code sticker. The Ford jack within the hessian is still present too!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original matching numbers 1993cc SOHC engine has avoided the hugely common modification trend and is factory standard with amazing attention to detail allowing bonnet up exhibiting. Performance figures of 108.2mph top speed and 0-60 in just 8.5 seconds are quoted. A Type-9 five speed synchromesh gearbox is fitted and widely accepted to assist modern day cruising and improved economy. The correct four speed gear knob is fitted to the interior selector.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Machined polished RS style four spoke 7J x 13in alloy wheels are in immaculate order with matching Toyo Proxes 185/60 R13 tyres. Vacuum servo assisted front disc brakes with rear drums brakes offer fair braking but fall short of modern standards.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Ford Rallye Sport Dealers, V.M.W. Motors on the 1st August 1980 to a Mr John Hicks. Supplied with the original Ford service book and incredibly virtually every MOT from new to warrant the 93,456 miles. An A4 folder neatly displaying previous tax discs, old invoices and RS Owners Club Valuation Certificates makes fascinating reading and confirms authenticity with the RS Owners Club rarely seen on other examples. Two sets of keys with one key doing the ignition, both door locks and boot. Coming from a stable of desirable RS Fords including an Escort Twincam and Escort Cosworth, this car provides the RS2000 hunter a unique and highly sought after opportunity.
