I found someone selling used NASCAR tyres online , they had bought an ex Hendrick car and it came with a bunch of tyres that were no good to race on.  Gave the tyre a quck scrub then after a look online it turns out IKEA make the perfect table. So a trip to the hardware store for a light and some corflute plus some 1:25 models i had =...........   Came out pretty good. |

That's great - I have at least 12 Nascar model cars - every race Mrs BC and I have been to if you buy the official program it comes with a model car for the event. (Long time "rainbow warrior" (Jeff Gordan) Fan and Mrs BC is a fan of "Smoke" (Tony Stewart)
If you've never been to a Nascar race and you think it's just a foot down followed by lots of left turns then you really should experience a race - they are really exciting events (full of twists and turns due to the different strategies and occasional event management interventions)
I was always jealous of those who hadn't flown in for the race and could take a used tyre home - the pit crews used to leave them out as they were packing up.
I wanted a few to grow spuds in the garden (I settled for some slicks from my track car) - You drill 8 holes in the sidewall by the bead and then in the first one earth up the seed potatoes then as they grow you keep earthing up over the shoots (stitching another tyre with cable ties on top to build the stack)
When you reach 4 tyres high you can stop building height and just water as required
Harvesting is easy - take what you need as you work down the stack (cutting cable ties to remove levels that have been harvested)

Really good job Reason No238 not to have a wife 😀 Looks great that I like when my wife looks at stuff like these comments and says things like 'well they must have ended up with the wrong wife then'  The only reason I haven't approached the subject of making my Hoosier drag tyre into a table is because I don't really want a Hoosier drag tyre in my living room.   OP's table looks excellent though, top work! I had to look at the pics twice to see the frame, that was made to fit surely!  |

That's awesome. I have been eyeing up that Ikea table for a while for a similar project as we will need a new coffee table when we decorate the lounge in the spring. Just tyring to decide between a wheel or an engine block |
