Nice! Looking forward to seeing how this goes. There's a fella on here with a silver one, I forget his name... Also, I'd forgotten about the oversized rear plates on these, very much a thing that you don't see done any more (maybe modern Rolls Royces? Last one I can think was the Rover 75), can you still get them?

Not sure about the rear plate, if it needs replacing ever I'll possibly go for a stamped black and silver one.

Looking forward to this. Also suspect we may not be too far away from each other country wise. Used to live in Carlton, Bingham and now out in the vale of Belvoir. I'll be keeping an eye out locally. Positive I have seen the spitfire cruising about.

Probably! I commuted from Carlton to Newark in the spit every day, now I live in Newark so the Sunny will be seen around the area a bit.

What a small world, I used to commute from just off Westdale Lane to Staunton (Village on outskirts of newark.) every day for years in various tat. In Newark fairly often so will keep an eye out. If you see a floppy haired idiot driving a very beige Jaguar XF and waving like a moron it will be me.

Quick update for the Datsun. Owned the car for a month or so now (I think??) (Time flies when you are having fun) First week revealed some running issues, first drive out left me stranded in a halfords car park around 8-9pm surrounded by corsa drivers (Scary), massive overfueling as well as a coil that was on its way out was revealed to be at fault- No problem, new chinese carb from Maxpeedingrods sorts the lack of tuning capability. Had a coil in the toolbox left over from my previous car (the spitfire) so fitted up and she runs. On the road again. Ordered an accuspark electronic ignition kit for it, ran a similar setup on the Triumph and it never failed me, so I figured it'd be worth sorting for this car. 20 minute install, jobs a goodun, some silicone leads as well to finish the fresh look too. Quick ignition timing adjustment and another baseline carb tune, she no longer runs- she purrs. After a couple of quick runs out in it I realise the rad is running at zero efficiency and there is no thermostat fitted to the engine so its overheating super quickly- almost had a very regretful drive. Finding a thermostat was easy as its the same design as one that Nissan runs in some of their new stuff (I think). A radiator to match mine was a struggle, ended up importing a 3 row Datsun 1200 radiator from the Czech republic after a recommendation from another Coupe owner, slightly less wide but I can say for sure it doesn't overheat anymore! Now the engine is tuned up, and the cooling system is working beautifully, I can finally stretch its legs a bit.... Slipping clutch. Have a clutch kit ordered and was planning on fitting up this week but I may have to wait as it hasn't arrived yet annoyingly. It'll get me to work and back if I'm gentle but the minute I put the pedal down the power is just too much. Ah well, apparently it's a quick job, i'm just in anticipation of a fun drive out once it's done. Test fitted my old Advan A3As one day at work too, needed to work out what size lips to order for when I rebuild them for this car. Only need another couple of inches on them! either way I think they look great, and a perfect period correct choice for this car. Met up with a friend in his 86 for last months Newark autojumble, on the hunt for twin 40 DCOE/DHLA/ADDHE carbs, no dice. Might just have to shell out on a pair from ebay or Facebook marketplace, bargain hunting is difficult. Having said that, found a pair of Pro Spats strut braces for a tenner within the first 15 minutes of being there, Not necessarily a period correct brand but they're good quality japanese parts, and were cheap as chips. I need to fab up some brackets for the strut towers then they'll be going on! Was a good visit regardless! That's all folks, until next time.

in for updates. advans suit it perfectly, just a bit of lowering needed... Definitely! Potentially going to an AE86 GT rear end and with that comes the aftermarket support of the 86 community. For the fronts, Technotoy tuning does a weld-on coilover kit for this car so will probably be going down that route. Plan is to rebuild the advans for a nicer fit and sort out lows in the meantime. Very excited to crack on!
