1973 Jaguar XJ6 Series 1 Rare 2.8 Manual, Project, Barn Find
Hi and welcome to the listing for my Series 1 XJ6 offered in rare specification.
Finished in the colour of Fern Grey and complementary tan leather interior. 2.8 liter straight 6 engine with the lesser seen manual gearbox.
Recently completed a 160 mile journey, the Jag starts runs and drives but could benefit from a service and a few issues sorting (see below) so offering it as a project.
The paintwork is good on the whole however there are a few areas which have seen remedial repairs over the years and is starting to come through. There is some rust appearing on the bottom of the passenger rear door but overall very presentable and usable for a 50 year old car - please see all photos as these form part of the description.
The engine runs smooth and quiet with plenty of power once up to temperature and the gearbox has a nice positive change. The ride is very comfortable but at the same time has a sporting edge compared to some other cars of the period.
The interior is a lovely place to be and in excellent condition throughout with not much wear at all to the seats.
The car comes with its original owners wallet and manuals, including a service booklet. 3 keys. MOT/tax exempt.
Issues: speedo not working, fuel gauge not working, o/d not working - could be switch?, fuel gauge not working, o/s fuel tank leaks so needs repair or replacement, occasionally splutters so may need a tune up/carb clean?, noise which sounds like something is loose/rubbing when driving, no choke so takes a while to start cold.
Would suggest recovering/trailer for collection due to the above.
Any questions, feel free to ask.
Thanks for looking.
