Anyway- It's been I think 6yrs ago that I started cutting up these old trucks and putting them on modern Dodge Durango frames, using only the ones that came with the 5.7L hemi engines I was searching the TB Archive the other day for something else and came across your first one from the dates its 7 years ago

Drove it. It's scary fast because it's LIGHT with no interior & no bed floor. (My buddy will add a nice wood floor later) I'll find some seats that fit and give it a basic trim interior. But- It lives again after 40 years in the woods.

This is awesome! I'm interested in the paperwork side of these builds too, do you have to have any kind of inspection? Do you have to tell the DMV you've built it or just slap the plates from the durango on and hit the road?

The title follows the body. Every state is different. Basically, it was titled and reg'd as a 1953 international pickup and that is what it remains. The guys I build them for, always have the ownership papers for both vehicles, just in case they need it for where they live.

Cheers Paul, IIRC they were DIY whitewalls ? Yep! I used a flap disc and wore away the white raised letters exposing the strip of white that was underneath! Saw it on a tube video and it works!

inteResting that all the pics in the original threads are dead. Video report Thanks for the shares Paul. Yeah- I haven't looked back at any of it but my guess is that the RR servers are only so big. After a thread goes stale a few years I bet they clear the hosted images. RR is one of the few remaining forums that allows you to insert pics into your posts without a redirected /img/ host. I love that about RR!
Maybe a moderator would know for sure? (it's no problem, I most likely have all the pics I've ever shared on RR anyway) It's so conveient to post here with pics- I feel like I should make a donation!
Have I started a 1979 Bronco thread yet?? I need to go and see....

If you can point me at the original threads I can see what the issue is... we haven't deleted any images ever, so it could just be a url change (we had a short period where we were running two urls for various reasons). Could also be some certificate stuff I need to renew a couple (there is so much to keep on top of haha!)

Oops, forgot to select the post before copy/paste, sorry 🤭 Looks like he was hosting the early pictures himself, the address for them is not found so something has changed at his end, so not down to RR.

I used to host my own forum images, that's right! Back then, that was the only way to get pictures to display reliably. I had learned early on that photobucket and other "free" hosting platforms were junk. I mucked about through a bit of old time html web page design and had a bunch of server space, so I hotlinked 'em myself. I still have space but I'm really not using it these days. With RR giving us a great service- it's super easy to share pics here.

It's 98% done- just needs seats & tail lights. Here's the video where you can see it run & move about, if you wish. Thanks for watching
