In this weather it does not seem a luxury to have some form of heating in your garage. Many people are turning to using Diesel heaters.
We carry out THREE modifications to the portable Chinese diesel heater including TWO to make it almost SILENT running and certainly one of the quietest vanlife diesel heaters that you will find. Three simple modifications that you can do, including a modification to the exhaust pipe and one forming an effective pump silencer.

I’m in two minds at this moment whether to fit my Chinese diesel heater inside my garage or outside If I fit it inside my plan is to also use a EGR Valve Cooler (as fitted to a few cars & vans) on the exhaust pipe And piping in a car rad and header tank, this will add extra heat without adding further fuel costs (this image if from eBay, and this is selling for £18, used) On a car they work like this All that needs to be added to this setup is a rad, a header tank (expansion tank) and a 12v dc pump

Don't know how prone to getting clogged it would be though? If you set it out correctly it should thermosyphon so should work without the pump. Any idea how much heat you would extract that way?

There is a Scottish chap on YouTube who did exactly this - results can be seen here. I have had an 8KW heater in my two car draughty garage and have found that it puts out enough heat to keep it at a rather pleasant temperature. Yes, could get more out of it but TBH it works well enough without. Uses about 5 litres running flat out in about 16-20 hours ish. I do have an old radiator that I have been looking at to pipe the exhaust through though..... P.
