Thanks for your replies through this thread, Its gained a bit more interest than I originally thought it would. Ive not yet worked out how to multi quote so find it hard replying personally at the minute. But I will get my head around itsoon I'm sure!
Work has progressed a lot more than I expected over the christmas period, which took me by suprise, so its looking like it may be time to get the panels out of storage ready for fit up soon 🥳
I'm hoping for some more time at the weekend after the kids football games have been played, so ill take a few pics and update you all next week

Evening all, Ive got a little to report since my last update, as just through pure coincidence really ive been able to put in a bit more time than I expected to get. The drivers side repairs are now completed, all flushed back and currently sat in rust converter. I think if I were able to put a full saturday in on it now it would be all done welding wise, which is a bit annoying. But, the family dynamic is much more important than me disappearing into the garage. So we rumble on for another month or so. After that Ive now rolled the cab 180⁰ to give me access to the other side. Originally I was going to replace the inner sill front to back as I had the two profile sections made full length. But, on closer inspection there was absolutely nothing wrong with 80% of the passenger side, so I have opted to only start from the rusted section. I then proceeded to weld the sill patch in last night, and the angled section at the back of the cab, but didnt take any pictures. My next update will hopefully see all these areas completed. Along with a couole of other odd patches that need attention on this side. Ill then rust convert this other side, then the plan is to run seam sealer around the offending edges before giving it its final coat of primer. Thus hopefully marking the end of the welding repairs Then onto panel re fitting...!

While Ive got a bit of free time this evening Ill mention another car that came my way last year. Its a series 1 Commer Cob. A very rare little piece of Rootes history, but also a very rotten piece! There is another one for me to collect which is in better condition, but still needing work, so this one will serve moreso as a donor and reference in certain areas if I do decide to go ahead with it. There are a few projects I have in the pipeline but once the cab is done, the plan is to take stock, reflect, then come up with a bit of a plan going forward and some sort of order. I imagine it will all go wrong fairly quickly, but we have to try! Anyway, this is without doubt the worst car I have ever come across, we had to stop a couple of times on the way home to put a few extra straps around and over it as I honestly thought we were going to lose it coming up the M2! As you can see, this would in my opinion at least, take a simply outrageously, over the top amount of dedication and commitment to restore this particular example. Something I don't think I would want to commit too. But the second example (yet to be collected) may well be do-able. But again, that will need a bit more a detailed analysis further down the line!

I have been chomping away at the commer, and hope to have a fairly sizeable update come sunday/early next week, but for the time being, I thought I'd showcase another of my current crop, A Series III Sunbeam Rapier. Another project car, it requires a fair bit of welding, mainly floors and sills. But isnt too bad by comparison to some of the others. It is believed to be seized, but if I'm honest I havent looked at it again since the day I collected it. I sheeted it up at the In-laws and its stayed there since. While I'm floating through the albums there wer also a couple of Audax models in my collection for a short while. A Singer Gazelle, and a Hillman Minx. These were back in April '21, so as the year progressed and the Commer propositoon came to light, these two made way. Which was a shame, but something has to give sometimes doesnt it. The minx had already been lifted with a crane by someone as the roof was pinched, so this was only a spares car, but the gazelle was pretty solid. These both went to the same home, although I'm unsure what became of them.

Right, Today has been very productive and full of satisfaction! The final welding repairs have been completed ... Hurrah 🥳 The rear cab corner was the final area for repair. Hence I felt it worthy of a photo inclusion! With the welding done, I flushed the final few welds off then set about the rest of the underside with a wire wheel on the grinder. With that completed a liberal coating of rust converter was then applied. Given our lovely british climate, the drying process didnt go as quickly as I hoped. So after that I was unable to progress any further today. The next stage is to seam seal some of the areas, then give it a top coat of primer. Before finally righting it and beginning the re-fit! I then turned my attention to a couple of panels I collected from storage the other day. I gave them a rinse off and a bit of a scrub and clean up. They can now sit there raring to go! Hopefully in another month or so it may actually look like a truck again

Morning Gents,
Still havent mastered the multi quote! But, in answer to the first question I am from the Medway Towns. Lived here all my life, always liked the idea of moving away out the area, even abroad to france. But the roots go too deep with the children all settled into school etc so here we are.
And with regards to the commer cob, as I believe I have said earlier in the thread, I doubt very much I will entertain a resto on that particukar car, with so many other projects around at the minute it seems daft to throw fortunes into that. Ill see what the second one is like when I get that, then go from there.

A regular at the Christchurch Quay gathering, I like the colour, don't know what it's called, neither does the owner as it was already painted when he bought it.

The underside has now been seam sealed and painted this week, and has come out quite nicely. With that done and then left to dry the next opportunity I got I set about righting the cab and getting it back onto the trolley. This was fairly involved and a bit of a slow, methodical process, as I did this on my own. With the aid of two axle stands to prevent me bending the front chassis legs and a selection of 4x2 timbers to pack the rear of the cab up off the floor I slowly edged it back over. Which went a heck of a lot smoother than I could have hoped for! As I was very aware of the disastourous consequences this could have if I got it wrong... With it righted I then set about doing the same to the work I'd done on the inside. The plan this week is to primer everything else, then start fitting it back together at long last.

Doors on tonight! Drivers side one has sat back on perfect, but the passenger side looks as though it needs a little dressing in. I've put in a request with my Dad to dig the inner wings and grille out next for me. So i will see how the door looks once these bits are back on before deciding what to do with that. Then they can get bolted back on along with the front cross section, and the bonnet!

one for inspiration, keep up the good work...... Thanks guys, should be able to offer another update come the end of the week. Looks like a hard worked example, looks to have lost the chrome features too off the nose of the bonnet. Ive always loved the sign board over the cabs on classic lorries, something I will look to replicate on mine when I get that far. Whether it be through finding an original, or Ill simply try and make one.

While were on the subject of old photos, I found this whilst on t'internet, and it turns out it is the very same one I photographed at Rush Green, obviously in much better order than when I saw it. And another I found, complete with cab board and a proper sheeted load! It does look terribly similar to the Rush Green one, but I cant confirm if it is indeed the same one or not, but a nice bit of history nonetheless
