oh that reminds me , if you want to do a bit of adapting , i have been involved in designing / mapping a saxo with the 1.6 16v engine , run at up to 20 psi , this works brilliantly so far , it's been on the rd for a few years , i reckon it at around 310 bhp ...not had it on the dyno . www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194273295199

Oh and a little bit of getting used to drifting in snow is required so you would need a fairly large empty car park. I found that in the snow trying to play because the power is a 50/50 split it just wants to drift in quite a wide arc, and when you lift off it can carry on sliding for a little longer than anticipated. You can’t really play too much with the handbrake either because of the awd system. Speed my parcels are getting delivered the snow will have gone and wel be onto spring 😂😂

Loving this thread, I’d love a gc8 but the price of good examples is well on the rise. Looking forward to more updates. The ez car care products are good but the delivery times are abysmal my order took 3 weeks and at the time there was no strikes. Yeah some of the reviews complained about delivery. Tbf it's stuck at work and can't clean anything at minute. Hopefully have a play with it over Christmas see how I get on. And yeah, prices seem to be on the up big time for them. It wasn't long ago you could buy a ragger for 1500 quid with MOT Cheers

I really don't want the hassle of modifying the up pipe and down pipe and what not. By time I've spent on the stainless wire n flanges n then time, I maye aswell just get a bolt on upgrade (I know, very unlike me) 😂 Cheers

So yesterday back off "holiday" and refreshed (ish that's a rant for a whole other thread, I'd think long n hard before you booked centreparcs tho)... Expecting to have a nice pile of parts at work ready to crack, it would appear the royal mail are well and truly cockin job up! 1 parcel out of 7 arrived, all ordered on 2nd December ffs!! Anyways. What did I have. The failed water pipes replacement!. That's good I suppose, but I can't refit the inlet without the other crossover pipe, or inlet gaskets! Made a call to ICP to see where rest of my stuff was, sure enough it all got sent on the 2nd on 24hr, and then got lost somewhere and no one knows where! Brilliant. Decided best bet was to reorder the missing crossover pipe and inlet gaskets and il return what's not needed if it ever arrives (paid extra for fed ex so should have that tomorrow).. Didn't get chance to do much to car yesterday and had real work to do this morning. However imagine my joy when we got some post today,2 for me.. could it be the crossover and inlet gaskets. Well 50% right! other crossover pipe, and a genuine oil filter!! Still no gaskets. Aggghh!! Picked my lip up n decided to crack on replacing what I could. Starting with the water pipes. Every clip I could replace with real jubilees I did. Also sacked off the AC pump since it's not doing anything with no pipes and no belt. I've also gone round the water pipes all over bay, and replaced the tinfoil Cheap clips with real jubilees. If you see someone working on a car using these for something critical, be a good Samaritan and give them a slap 😂😂 Got the water side all buttoned up and figured I'd clean the heads up ready for inlet going back on... Cleaned all the inlet faces up with tissue down inlet holes.. then got hoover and did top of engine then one by one pulled tissue out and hoovered the ports Thought I saw summat drop as I pulled tissue up, and theres and a bolt head shaped mark on the muck on the head!!!! Obviously been there forever and not one I'd dropped. Shone torch down inlet and it's balanced on the luckily closed valve!!! That could have been a lot lot lot worse Disaster averted. Carried on. Cleaned up the inlet manifold faces and decided to replace the turbo inlet pipe with the silicone one. I won't swear as to set the filter off, but what an absolute pig of a job that was! Blanked off what used to be the dump valve recirc port. Along with any ports in the inlet pipe I'm not using now (going to run a catch can set up).. also got rid of some unneeded clutter from the inlet. Starting figuring out the plumbing for the catch can. I've utilised the standard pipe under the inlet the cam covers connect to, but this will now run to a can, and found the crankcase breather. It's a strange looking affair with a 13 and 16mm outlet on it (one to turbo inlet pipe one to inlet manifold). But couldn't see any kind of one way valve. Turns out it's got a proper one way valve in the inlet manifold. Since I won't be running standard pipework I blanked this too incase it ever fails (did I mention I never want to take this inlet off again).. With that done the inlet is ready to go back on. And the cars ready for it. I just need my god damn inlet manifold gaskets!!! Hopefully theyl show up tomorrow. Possibly.... Who knows. Cheers

34 is quite the age to be learning new swear words. And today, I learnt a whole encyclopedia of them! Intrigued. Read on. Some inlet gaskets finally turned up. Not the ones I ordered on the 2nd of december the royal fail have lost. But the second set I ordered Monday! Not to worry, once I've got all my missing parcels il return what's not needed. Or claim back or whatever. But that's the least of my worries. As I said yesterday I've changed the turbo inlet pipe for a bigger silicone version. I'd seen people said they were awquard to re assemble but I wasn't expecting it to be such a disgusting pig of a job to get back together! You either have to fit the inlet manifold and ram the inlet pipe through a gap too small for it (not even convinced you could). Or fit the inlet pipe to the inlet manifold and try and line it all up at once. Apperently less difficult (lies all lies)... Problem is you have to line the inlet ports up, not knock the gaskets off, don't drop anything down the ports. And get a stiff silicone intake pipe onto the turbo and behind the pas pump where it doesn't really fit. This was my first experience of learning new swears. I think I've cut every knuckle trapped every finger and generally cursed for a good hour! However I'm not easily beaten and here we have the result! Bit more reassembly and and in not that too much time we have something resembling an engine bay! Chucked battery on, turned the key. Fuel pump primed, no leaks, so far so good. Span it over and fired straight up! Happy days!! Began filling the cooling system taking on board what had been said. Even brought out my special magic funnel! However my joy was very very short lived. Well that looks somewhat sub optimil wouldn't you say!! Have I missed a jubilee clip, damaged something fitting inlet. Oh no worse much worse. When I'd calmed down and gathered the spanners up that left the area at high velocity. It became obvious that, 1 it was a major leak and 2 the inlet was coming off again! Aggghhhhhhhh With it removed it became obvious where the leak was from. Worse bit is I think this was my original leak all along and it was squirting onto the hose I replaced!! So wasted time expense and effort!! This is the culprit. The water crossover pipe between the barrels. Or more to the point a poxy 21mm core plug!! As the gift that keeps on giving, 2 of the 4 bolts that hold it on sheared when removed them. So that's a bit more work. Oh and 21mm isn't an off the shelf size core plug size, I've got a 20 and 22mm but it's neither. I've looked online and confirmed it is 21mm but not for all the tea in China can I buy one locally, and subaru will only sell me the complete crossever! I've ordered some but who knows if/when theyl come. If I've got face on Saturday still then my mates gonna weld it me up, but it doesnt look promising for snow drifts and it's not left me in the best of moods!! Oh it's good to be back 🤣🤣 Anyways. More soon maybe. Maybe il fit the new exhaust. Or maybe il just buy a sledge to play in the snow with... Cheers

Ah the gift that keeps on giving !
Know you'll get there in the end and if it was working I reckon you'd be at high risk in the snow anyway.... When I had my UK 2000 turbo wagon it snowed so I went out for a play in the local lanes. The look on my elderly neighbours face as he grabbed the rat on a string he was walking out of the way and leapt into the ditch to avoid the sideways never going to stop in time idiot in the noisy green car was priceless. He was impressively spritely for an 80year old. Yeah, just because you can go with AWD doesn't mean you can stop... Did shout sorry through the window as I skidded past though. Live and learn, older and more sensible now though. James

Take more than a poxy water leak and a few snapped bolts to stop me, just wish it was me making decision not to play rather than the car! I've got a beer now and all is well in the world again. And yeah but not stopping is half the fun 🤣🤣.. I don't hoon anywhere near people. This was someones efforts last week (I'm guessing it had wheels when it barrel rolled into the field) 🤷🤣 Cheers

Wednesday morning it didnt (don't they call that poetic licence or something)... I was adding tension to the story 🤣🤣 Your dealing with an area where banger cars are "road tested" on the roads, and if it's not bolted down it's fair game.. that being said I've never had a jot of grief and my neighbours are lovely (perhaps it helps to look a bit unapproachable) 🤣🤣 Il get it sorted asap. I'm genuinely missing driving it! Cheers

Ahh, good old impreza ownership. My favourite problem was the leaking fuel tank. It could leak when full, when half full or nearly empty or not at all.

Well not much of an update. But a tiny bit of progress none the less. Fired up the hot glue gun this morning and stuck some m8 nuts on the broken bolts. Not sure if it was the heat or the swearing I'd done yesterday. But they wound out basically by hand! Unfortunately after this I had to go t Birmingham for work. So no more progress made. The only thing stopping it going back together is a poxy 21mm core plug! I've mail ordered a couple but post is looking unlikely. Since I've been in van all day I've phoned literally 30+ places and called in at others between Birmingham and Rotherham. And no one has a 21mm core plug I can buy for tomorrow ðŸ˜.. So it's looking like it's stuck at work for the weekend. Il probably end up getting my mate to tig the hole up Saturday but I really wanted to bring it home to play ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ More soon hopefully. Cheers

Also ordered some new cleaning stuff. Thanks to royal fails strikes and what not something that was sent royal mail 24h has taken best part of 3 weeks to come!! Not obviously used any of it yet. But it seems to get rave reviews and the offer it was on made it too cheap not to try (£25 for lot!!) Had a look at their stuff, filled a basket with stuff I needed or at least wanted to try, then between checking the basket over and going to pay the price increased by £40. So nope. Had a right good look at all my car cleaning stuff again and ordered similar elsewhere.
