Taken from a Facebook posting: "My elderly stepfather's vintage Rolls Royce has been stolen from a private garage he used in Maidstone, Kent. He put his heart and soul into restoring it. It is not drivable, so the disgusting thieves must've used a towtruck or similar. They will likely dismantle all his hard work and sell the parts. It's a 1924 Rolls Royce 20hp Landaulette. Please keep an eye out and dm me if you see/saw anything. Its such an unusual and loved vehicle. Police have been informed. Thanks"

Quite an unusual vehicle to steal, particularly in non-running condition! Let's hope he gets it back soon...

I'll keep an eye out, I'm in Maidstone and a couple of folks I know have dealings with working on and restoring prestige stuff from this period. Does seem a peculiar thing to steal, RR enthusiasts tend to be pretty fussy about provenance and the like.

Surely any community for parts would be so small as to make punting them on almost impossible? I might be wrong but the sort of chaps who run those old girls don't seem to be the sort that would countenance anything as ungentlemanly as pinching parts.

Agree totally, unless of course it's been stolen to order, and has already left the country? Feel for the owner 😟

Given recent events it would be worth keeping an eye on any banger racing events.

Apart from shipping it abroad to restore another one, or parted out and shipped abroad - I'm not actually sure what you could do with it. Demand in the UK for parts must be quite small and I'm guessing most owners know each other so would notice if Bob suddenly found 100's of hard to find parts he needed to finish his re-build

My guess would be it's likely headed to the middle east or Russia in a container to become part of a rich oil tycoon or sheikhs car collection.

...Or to the Indianesub-continent where there are still a number of these vintage vehicles in working but ailing condition and may benefit from more parts supply. Still very sad to see though.
