So before we go any further it's in here because it's on a E plate which was the original reg of the donor Sierra. Although it wasn't registered until 2005, I've checked with admins and it's fine to be listed. Now the formalities are out the way 😂
2005 tiger cat e1 kit car, st170 engine itbs dta management etc etc. . fully road legal and correctly registered with v5 present and only 2 previous owners. Mot until June 2023 and only 4200 miles from new!!
il start with the good. folder 2 inch thick of original build and lots of receipts including iva certificate etc . it really was built to a nice spec when new! making 165bhp at the wheels with proof and only weighing 600ish kg it's definitely no slouch. best way to describe handling is like a scalextrick car. oh and it's £180 a year to insure! brief spec..
2005 tiger cat e1 (Sierra running gear)

type 9 box, lightweight flywheel
Sierra lsd
race line shallow baffled sump
DICE itbs
dta S60 management (mapped by John sleath race cars)
stainless 4 branch into stainless system
spax adjustable coilovers up front
spax dampers and springs rear
hi spec billet 4 pot front brakes, Sierra rear discs with braided hoses all round.
tiger harnesses
tiny 250mm mountney wheel
lightweight 16s with yokahama tyres
now the bad (il be completely honest then we know where we are)....
-the bonnet is horrendous. I think a blind man with a stick has tried fibreglass work and he shouldn't have.. it was originally built with a pinto in and then later the st170 was fitted and obviously the fit of the bonnet is different. this is only cosmetic but it's not pretty. new bonnets are available off the shelf from tiger
-oil pressure gauge, reads 90 when lights are off. and zero when you put headlights on 😂😂. I can only assume theres a wiring issue but since I've obviously got oil pressure I've never worried (light works)..
-alternator light is on, and it's got a grumbly bearing (however it's been like this all summer and charges fine, it's only a st170 alternator if it needed replacing)
-generally needs a bit of a tidy up and some love. but it's been 1000% reliable all summer for me. (See build thread)
so why am I selling this ultimate bit of trackday fun... well... I've got 2 kids and it only has 1 spare seat. Mrs works nights so on a weekend when I could be using it, I can't because I'd have to strap a kid to the roll hoop (this is frowned upon apperently).. I'm a plant fitter by day and it's not very practical to take my tools to site in. so I just can't use it how I'd hoped. I'd planned on fitting a proper cage and doing some trackdays however I've just not got the time and it's making me sad 🤷😂..
it's insured for 8k (there's pinto powered ones fetching that in summer) but considering the disgusting bonnet and the bit of fettling it needs I'd accept £5500 or a very near sensible offer. a caterham/Westfield of this spec would be double that and then some!! I'm also open to idea of a swap if it's summat that takes my fancy. summat with 4/5 seats and a roof that I could see track with (just not a ep3 or Clio). think Sierra, E30/36, mini r53/56 summat old and random. just try me.
I've also got a mk indy bonnet, a pile of mk indy arches. along with a standard exhaust manifold and a modified inlet manifold and a gt30 turbo that can be included that were part of my plan. but it seem silly chuckin money at summat I just can't use and don't have the love for like I did my previous cars.
