I know this has been touched on before but I find that it is getting harder and harder to sell a car at present even though the internet has opened up the potential buyers market as never before.
Hhaving put a car up for sale on the local car selling websites, some free and others you have to pay for I first get inundated with buyers promising to pay the full asking price though they want it for their son but are currently overseas and will pay the shipping costs etc having never even viewed the car. SCAM!!
Then I get people who are either illiterate or can't be bothered to text properly asking what is the best price, again without even viewing the car.
However the worst calls I get are those who ask about the car, I give the same information as on the advert and fill in the missing bits reference the service history and condition on the car etc. Then they ask what is your best price and get rather indignant when I tell them the asking price is what I am looking for it but still make a ridiculous offer of 2/3rds of the asking price.
However just by biding my time and patiently waiting for the right person to actually come and view the car, I so far have mostly sold to the first person to turn up.
Pre the internet it seemed easier to sell a car, Exchange and Mart or the local vehicle selling weekly magazine took your advert and you waited for the phone to ring, and with a bit of luck you had a buyer at the door.
Is it just me looking through rose tinted glasses or do others have these same problems?
Just to confirm that my C220d Mercedes sold today to the second person to view with the first viewer ringing to say they wanted it but unfortunately I had to tell them it is now sold.
