Hi there,
Does anyone know of a source for buying push-on stainless trim strips? The type which you push onto a metal edge with the little gripping springs inside?
Cheers.

Have a look at part no FW062 from www.sheridanmarine.comIt's a very convincing alternative which doesn't damage paintwork, and it's cheap!

It's actually for some bathroom shelves which are great but require a bit of strengthening. So has to be stainless and has to be metal for the rigidity. A push-on stainless steel trim piece from an automotive application would be ideal... but where to find such an item!

Real ss trim was really only ever fitted to expensive, high end cars, like the Fulvia and other pre-Fiat Lancias. It is highly sought after, now. Most edge trim was either mild steel or brass (if you're lucky), and chrome plated.

I wouldn't mind chrome plated if the quality was reasonable. In a very wet environment less than stainless isn't a good idea but can be okay.

Slit some stainless tube and fit it over the edge?

Slit some stainless tube and fit it over the edge? Technically that could be done... but I'm the sort of person who would stare at it and agonise over it being wrong. A U-shape trim is going to be far better for this job. I like the shelves but they've been made from metal which is too thin. With heavy bottles of shampoo sitting on them they buckle.
