I'd be looking for somewhere around a grand, including all the spare bits, has a V5 as a 2.0 car all legit. I could probably find emough bits to make it at least a rolling shell for transportation. Can also recommend a good transporter.

Was idly browsing c&c, saw this and thought of this thread www.carandclassic.com/car/C1498987That particular one might be a bit of a rougher starting point than you'd want, but they're quite a cool looking base car, and lowered with some nice wheels, mx5 engine, maybe on itbs, could be a compelling combo π

There used to be a greeny blue one local to me years ago, smoothed, lowered, modern alloys, looked spot on. π
