Would be great for all our blue Lenhams to meet up at a show if that’s feasible? I’m in Kent, near Leeds Castle. I'm in Dorset. And finally…a question to my fellow Lenham owners: do you find road grit collects in the space in the bonnet below the headlights? Any thoughts? It's a pain. I would imagine in the wet we'd also have a water problem. I usually just use the shop vac and have been considering cutting some slots so it could be brushed out.

Thanks for the suggestion. I Googled but couldn’t find one that will solve the problem. I need something to extend the front of the arch rather than just to protect it. But if you know of a specific product, I’d be pleased to hear about it. Thanks again! Thinking of something from the 'breakers yard' adapted to suit, something pre-shaped requiring little or minimal support ...

Or rain water for that matter. Hmmmm….

And the road via Tunbridge Wells is quite nice though usually very busy. In the absence of an organised meet, I’ll let you know if we’re coming over that way. Would be great to meet another Lenham owner.

Or we could all go to Retro Rides Weekender. I'm taking mine Ferg Sorry can’t make it. I’m planning a European trip that weekend…to two classic racing circuits in Belgium: Circuit de Chimay and Circuit du Geddine. Both offer an up close and personal experience like it used to be.

My car is alive now. It took a little while to learn what was wrong with the carburettor which came with the car. It's a 45mm Dell'Orto DHLA and with the hive mind of a very helpful Facebook group, we worked out the chokes were needlessly large and not producing enough venturi action for road use. I replaced them from 36mm to 32mm and it was transformed into a much nicer engine First drive! Immediately it was clear the rear suspension was awful! It was spine torturing over anything but the smallest bump. It only has 1" of travel before the bump stop came into play. The Spax dampers were obviously completely fubared so I visited the excellent Moss Europe and bought a pair of adjustable Gaz units which can be adjusted from too soft to too hard. I know it's not ideal to have dampers mounted at this angle but it feels fine now. The straight cut Jack Knight gears are so noisy and turn people's heads more than the engine does. Then they turn round and see a tiny, happy blue car and they smile. Here's my mate's Innocenti Mini at Torque Moto Cafe Another urgent job is to change the diff ratio currently 4.5:1 which equates to 4,800 rpm at 70mph! A change to 3.7:1 which I have spare will drop that to 3,900 rpm. This car is such a hoot to drive with bags of go and lovely steering and soundtrack. I'll bring it to the Weekender and hope to show it as a deadline build and get some track time too.

Looking great!
And your observation about the carb is on point. For road use, it’s driveability that puts a smile on your face!

Here's a little video I made, going for a drive. Please excuse the quality; I forgot to use stabilisation and it's the first video I have edited.

I took the Lenham to Brooklands Museum this weekend. It's good there The final drive ratio is way too low at 4.55:1. I calculated it is doing 4,800 rpm at 70mph. It's got plenty of go in 4th gear so I'd like to swap some of that for some more relaxed cruising and plan to fit a 3.73 CROWNwheel and pinion which will drop 70mph to 3,900 rpm. It was out with the axle today and once dismantled I found chipped teeth and twisted half shafts but I did also find and LSD So the plan is to clean, refurbish and paint everything and to swap the CROWNwheel and pinion over to the LSD. I have ordered some good used tougher half shafts and I will go about setting-up my first diff. All hopefully in time for RRW Ferg

Great car. You know it’s tiny when a GTV looks big next to it.
And I too thought of Cookie Monster when I saw the seat covers.

Nearing the final chapter in the build of this car, friend Ian Seabrook of Hubnut fame visited for a drive of the Lenham. You can watch him and me discuss and drive the tiny blue sports car below. You will also be able to see it at Retro Rides Weekender in the deadline display on Saturday and Sunday. Cheers, Ferg

This is lovely Those seats are ace too Cheers. Have a sit in mine before you order them. I sat in some others and changed my order spec to longer and narrower than standard. I'm glad I did. Ferg I will have a sit in it at the weekender - I'm normally working to hard to get round the display paddocks but as you've applied to go on track I'll be able to have a quick sit in it while you are waiting Seems like a very good plan to me
