Hi
Been contemplating a 2014 correctly registered kit car.
It’s non Q
It’s declared manufactured 1992
The log book states co2 is zero
Can this really be free road tax or am I missing something?

don't think it will be free have you asked the owner what they pay if it was first registered after 2017 with a zero co2 on the paper work you may of got the first year for free. its probably registered as zero due to it being a kit car

probably best to give Dvla a call if you know the reg. The only thing that would concern me is if its registered as zero co2 would it need to meet that on the emissions on the mot test

Its zero as its a kit car and therefore not type tested by a manufacturer - You will pay on the engine capacity.

That would make sense.
Are you definite that’s the actual answer?

It looks like its an air cooled engine by the cc. You might be able to get lower tax with an engine change to a 12/13/1500 size if you wanted to.

Kit cats, imports that weren't sold here etc - you have to pass emissions in the IVA test to pass to be able to register it, but then you simply pay a flat rate.
So I have a 1.6 Caterham and a 5.7 V8 Dodge - both cost the same flat rate to tax - 25 quid a month.

That would make sense. Are you definite that’s the actual answer? Yes Looks like a fun project and visually could be pretty cool - Dynamically I am not so sure.

Yep, but if buyable at sensible price and a scooby engine stuck in back it could be cute

I've always though the funniest thing to do with these type of replicas would be to make it look as much of a hokey replica as possible (but serious, so all the shutlines etc terrible, curse word paint etc but with giant badging of what it's supposed to be), then fit a engine that makes it as fast or faster than the real thing.
