Here's a lil' something I got through a series of swaps back in February 2021. Always fancied the MK3 and loved it so much that at this point my swapping journey ended right then and there. So, it's a 2.0 85kW GTi from 1994. Originally black, but in last December I gave it a go and blasted some fake patina and scallops and pinstripes and some other stuff on it. It actually has some rust spots, nothing too bad, but enough bad. As I'm not up to restoring the body on it in the closest few years and as I really love patina anyway, then I just painted it like this, cause it kinda hides the issues and looks cool at the same time. Everything hand painted, rolled on and brushed on. For the fun of it I painted it over a course of two weeks in December with minus 17 degrees Celsius and snow outside, driving 40 kilometers to shop and back home every day. Generally just had a lot of fun. A lot. Other mods so far include the clean look grille, some lowering springs and a set of staggered 16" Borbet A-s. Have a lot more plans of course, but we'll get there.

That is some nice pinstriping.
Let me know when you next plan on taking vacation to New Orleans and I'll be there.

Nice pinstriping.
Funny movie reference too...

That is a whole load of work you put in. Both your creative mix and the tidyness of the execution is worth a lot more than it pretends to be. joem83 may like this.

Yep, loving that a bunch! Those slabs of colour really do work in the C pillars and the weathering/patina has been executed exceptionally well. Pinstriping is awesome too. Can't help thinking of an early T25 with the same treatment looking equally epic

Thanks everyone! I'm quite eager to work on it some more, but kinda have to hold the horses a bit, cause my other projects need some attention too. On Monday this Kadett for example is planned to be entering the shop and hopefully get it out of the garden gnome status and make it a driver again.

Nothing much, just some colour matching with the season. Went to Verstas Goes Kustom Kulture event in Finland with my custom paint/pinstriping operation. Had a nice 500km autumny trip on scenic roads and took a few pics too.

Impressive work in an unusual style!
Will that roof remain black as it looks?
What became of the kadett?

my first car was a Mk3 Golf in black just like this one (RIP R301 UUJ), so i like this on a couple of different levels.
Do you mind if i say that it has a bit of a 'Mad Max' feel about it?
You also have a talent for pinstriping!
awesome stuff.

Impressive work in an unusual style! Will that roof remain black as it looks? What became of the kadett? Thanks! Naah, the roof is gonna be flakes, candies, patterns and all that jazz. Kadett just got the clutch sorted last week and is now almost movable on its own power. Tomorrow I'll get the new ignition module and then need a new battery and some bits & bobs. Next move is to sort out the rust that has conquered the sills and most of the rear floors/frames. Slow project.

Cool stuff, your Golf. And those Renault wheels, love 'em. I'm very into old school wheels and have a bit of a collection in progress myself
