This is how I pack rims when I send them. It cost £20 to send 4 rims this way today.
1 Obtain a cardboard bicycle box from your local bike shop and cut it into two large sheets of card.
2 Tape two rims together with duct tape where the edges touch . I'm facing the faces towards each other. If they are precious, put something between them
3 align one side of the pair of rims to the fold in the cardboard and tape the edge of the card to the rims.
4 Roll the rims up and trim excess length of card off .
5 While still on its side slice the 'flap' part of the card into segments,fold them in and tape them.
Turn it upside down and trim the other end down and make remainder into segments , and fold in and tape.
Viola
You can send up to 30kg with Parcelforce, These are heavy 15 x 8 steelies , a pair weighs 24Kg. £9.75 or something. I booked it via Parcel2go and paid with Paypal. You can send two rims as one parcel or you can add another pair and send as one consignment of 2 parcels. (You only have to put address in once and pay once then but it costs the same)
