Well, time passes, things change, Felix sold his 924 (traitor, I loved it) and I FINALLY got something more or less Retro and worth of posting here again, it's amint Toyota RAV4 1999 with 220k km (140k mi, bloody medieval units...) on the dash, also known as "this is a baby Hilux SW4 and WILL outlive you", here some pics of the first proper ride with it:
Well, yes, it's not fast, it's not that cool nor rare, but c'mom, remember I live in a s***hole, only 250 of these bad boys (slaps roof) came, mostly autos, but this is a MANUAL baby, God bless manual transmissionand my synchros.
Wait, wasn't I a motorsports guy? Why not buy something with some chest hair on it? BecauseI'm poor I was kind of liking the idea of having an offroader to drive on lonely gravel roads, my choices were either a 1st gen Honda CRV, 2nd gen Vitara and 1st gen RAV4, but since was the most rare by far, of course my idiot ass chose it...
So, plans, also known as "things I say I will do but my wife won't let me":
1- Restore it and make expeditions
2- Rinse and repeat
No, seriously, I need to make a good mechanical revision on it, some much needed TLC, equip a bit, and drive until I die. The idea is, since now I'm properly equipped with the best knowledge motorsports engineering could have taught me (seriously, both engineers left after 2 months, and there was my intern ass having to take care of 2 completely different cars in top-level brazilian racing series, f***ing great, but I loved it, sometimes I hate myredacted for legal questions for driving our team van straight into a truck rear and almost killing us) I intend to make one of the best RAV4's of this world, with high tech materials, ingenious engineering and proper build quality, something I can have a mental breakdown and drive 15000 km to Mongolia... and back... trough Iran... because why not?
