I'm looking a bike project for a bit of fun on the side and to get my sons involved with spanners and away from screens!! My beetle project is at the point where it's no longer enjoyable and my budget is too small for another car right now.
Ideally an aircooled motor and single cylinders and not too far from the midlands. Motorcross/enduro type bike please.
If anyone has anything or knows of something please give me a shout.
Thanks, Craig.

I may be getting rid of my CG125.
It’s far from a project but as anyone knows, all bikes need work in some form, be it washing/preserving them or simply Keeping on top of them.
I’m based in the Midlands

Might have a 500c kawasaki project. Engine runs, logbook etc. Would be circa £250. I'd have to get some more details as it's in our shared storage.

Afternoon all, firstly, big apologies to both ChasR and RetroWarwicK. I didn't receive or see notifications that you had replied. This is doubly frustrating because it looks like I ignored your replies, but also because both would have been very much of interest!! I am still looking though, if anyone has, or knows of anything. Best Regards, Craig.

Thank you. I think I've decided now to try and stick with a 125 so that I can ride it without the expense of obtaining my full licence. I did briefly think about getting something else for an office ornament, but that feels a little too frivolous these days

I have a kh125 it looks like I'll never finish. It's mostly in one piece, hard work has been done. I've been giving it a cafe look, i removed the tail, built a custom hump seat (professionally reupholstered), fitted round headlight, straight bars, rearsets. Also has a micron exhaust which I created by cutting and reshaping an ar125 one. I've had it running but not for a few years.
Needs some reassembly, rewire, tank filling and painting etc.
In chesterfield. Might take a while to get the garage clear enough to drag it out for pics though.

Agreed they were a good little bike when I was a teenager - disc valve rather than reed valve so could be tweaked up a bit to improve the performance The AR125 exhaust won't be doing it any favours I'm sure they were restricted at the manifold end

This one has no restriction. Cant remember if it didnt have when i got it, or if i removed it. I had to cut it into 7 or 8 pieces to redhape it to fit the kh. Its ran with it on, sounds fantastic. I was going to modify the disc valve too but didn't get round to it. I had an AR125 when i was 17, the micron on that made a big improvement.
Thinking back to derestricting the AR, the main restriction was the valve, like the KH. The exhaust was too, but microns weren't. Aftermarket pipe and new disc valve were what was needed, hence doing the same with the KH.

AR was dead easy to make more power with, you just cut the disc or bought the full power one! I imagine the the KH would be similar.
Somewhere I had a copy of a magazine article that explained exactly what you needed to do. K&N then a Leder carb kit to keep it from going lean helped as well
Edit just remembered a bit more 2 or 3 base gaskets (or possibly a spacer) to raise the exhaust port and skim the head or barrel to get the compression ratio back. Tweak the autolube pump for more oil or run premix.

Good afternoon folks, still looking for something.
This has been on the back burner for the last few months, but I'm back on the trail now. Motocross or enduro type bike ideally, not bothering with road use now so any size motor considered but would still prefer single cylinder.
