robbo86 - The BX is another cool yet quirky Citroen!, the CX is where my desire is, you cant beat the smell of rust in the morning! akku - Lovely colour!, Citroen designs around that time are like marmite, either love or hate, the concave glass, the odd ashtrays, indicator buttons the lot! Thank you everyone for bookmarking!

Have not progressed that much since the last update, due to work commitments taking over. However I did manage to get the front bumper on and in place, provisionally, please also note this car will never be concourse condition, however my aim is to make it roadworthy and maintain it to keep it that way! Such a happy looking car don't you think!, I am missing the bulb holders for the main headlights, so that will be something to address. Anyway, going back to the rear rusty boot, I know it looks bad but itll all be fixed, clearly the window was leaking at somepoint, getting under the boot carpet, and then becoming still water

grizz - Patience and vision is what keeps this project alive, if you think "oh ill get it back on the road in 2 months" every time a unexpected problem arises, it'll knock the motivation! The colour was somewhat special to say the least, however the full thing will need a repaint at some point, due to the patchiness of the paintwork, I was thinking a glossy red or pastel colour? As ive stated previously, the car was originally silver, and to me that is too simple! something unique, abit like the car

Horncastle - The CX Safari estate was always a dream, if I didn't buy one when i did, who knows it possibly would have been a dream lost in time? Thanks for your comment -Michael

Unfortunately not much to say! The front metal has had its second coat of primer, and I have finally ordered some 5W bulbs for the front bumper lights. Picture below of them in the two holders.

Looks like it has found the right person to get it back in shape.
The colour choice is a tough one - the silver kind of works with the 1980s space agey vibe it has - a kind of 'earth orbiter' 😎

I always liked the Silver/grey that the "Leader" editions came in (BX, CX, VISA I think?)... my step-Dad had a 25 GTI Turbo CX that was in Dark Green that was nice...

Horncastle - Very cool! Dark green was a thought (and still is) for this build!

Sadly, I haven't got any photos to show for my recent work!, The car is planned to be moved address on the 23rd so its small jobs that will help move. Recent work that has occurred is: - More rear welding - bolting the passenger seat in - Cleaning all of the car carpets. - Trying (and failing) to unseize the windscreen wiper mech

Hey Guys! Moving day is coming up and with that I have had to sort the electrical germlings with the CX, even with a new battery the car had a very slow crank and whilst turning it over, the cars gauges would fly all over. This lead me to first changing the earth strap from the starter to the alternator, however this did naff all. After much trial and error I decided to change the negative battery terminal and sand down the positive and low and behold she cranks! finally! With this can then come the oil and filter change as the car can finally lift up under its own power!

Watching a car with hydropneumatic suspension lift off the ground in the morning is very rewarding.... especially if it's been stood for a LONG time!

wow! i never realise these were made as late as 1990. silver would be simplest to match if you're going for a repaint tbh.

Hi Guys! Its been a while since the last update. The CX is now moved to my home address, so work is finally daily, and with that comes all the small things i didnt notice beforehand. The car ive noticed is tempermental, with starting, sometimes you turn the key and the "cx says no" and doesnt even crank! I believe this to be because ive found a split in the positive starter motor wire - something to check back in on later! in the build. Another thing is, now i have moved it on top of a tarp, I didnt realise how much sh!tting LHM fluid she leaked, this is from the main pipe going down the length of the car, thats also on the agenda to be replaced in the coming week (hopefully!) I have started on the bodywork whilst it has been nice weather (aka me saving the inside electrical jobs till it rains) lots of grinding the rust using a 80 grit flap disc, sanding, filling and priming the surfaces. To be fair, in the cars defence it is only crusty in two places on the exterior, one being the hole in the front drivers wing, and with another being the rear quarter in the boot area on the passenger side. As always, i have attached some photos from todays work with filler joys France next year anyone? lol

Hi all! Time for a little update, its been quite rainy, however Sunday showed hope, and delivered with a lovely day! I managed to grind away the patches of rust along the bottom seam of the rear drivers side door, with then using P38 filler to get that fine touch feel. I have noticed the CX (this one as an example) loves a good bit of flaking rust, this is commonly down to the very poor rust protection used on the metal, water sitting in between the door and the body, or a poor/ perished door seal never the less I progress a little more everyday, with just a lot left to go! Whilst the filler was setting on the door, I did gave the front a quick coat over, I used the grinder with a flap disk where I could, the inaccessible areas were left as i covered the full front in hammerite with rust protection and rust eater. It doesnt look the greatest, but the car is kept outside, and I live less than 50m to the beach, so something is better than nothing, underneath the headlights for example will be sufficient as it will be hidden once everything is back in place!. Well, thats all for now folks! its been blustery and cold so back under the cover she goes anyway to make you all happy, I ended the day by giving her an eye back, shes got a headlight!, it doesnt work, but the thought is there
