1996 Z32 Nissan 300zx (with added Volvo 340)

Been another busy car related weekend.

Had an enquiry about some paint correction on a project car ready for a show today at Doncaster race course for elsecar at the races. The only day I could get the car in round both out schedule was yesterday and a 1 day correction. The car got a ful decontamination and 1 stage polish to give the tired and swirled paint a mini revival.

Customer was dead chuffed and so was I given the time frame and turnaround. Car seemed to go down well today too so a good win all round.

Me and the other half also attended the same show in the Volvo and the Nissan. I only took a couple pics but here you go.

Havent been to Donny show for probably 18ish years!

It’s a worked 1.2 punto engine (head work, cams) on throttle bodies from memory! It actually turns on now but won’t idle as it needs tuning but I think it’s something that’ll work properly pretty soon from what the owner said.

Few little jobs ticked off over the past week.

Took the Nissan for its MOT where it flew through but didn’t quite fly through. My tester is a good mate and generally likes to take the mick where he can, I was greeted with a “Lou, what’s this” as I thought he was having me on he proceeded to show me the upper camber arm about to come apart and take the car with it 🤦🏻‍♂️





Remedied it with the mig and I’ve got some stock ones on order to get rid of the garbage China specials, you can still see it’s a little bent still in the pic so why anyone thinks this is a good idea, same with cheap coilovers is beyond me.



Not sure if I’ll just paint them up and run them as they are if the bushes are good or take them apart and run polybushes in them and have them powdercoated. I’m all for messing but the arms were only £35 a pair and it’s probably another £150 I don’t have to spend right now.

Decided to give the Volvo some love tonight too, chopped all the frilly bits off it in the usual places they rust like the front valence. Wire wheeled a lot of patchy scabs that were solid underneath and stuck some hydrate 80 then electrox over them till tomorrow. Only the front drivers inner arch that needs some real attention like the door but we’ll cross that bridge if or when we get to it with a patch probably!

While that was drying I sanded masked and painted the bottom of the door just to make it look a bit better/cover the primer.






And while that was drying I fitted a GLT spoiler I picked up earlier in the week for cheap cause it’s a little pranged on one side

Stuck some tape on the boot and measured up with the verniers once it got a general ideal with a marker/paint

I’ll probs sand the primer back tomorrow if the suns out and rattle can the patches of primer to make them look a little more sightly

Saw one just like it today...

Went to a local show called the drivers collection at magna yesterday and here’s some pics of my favorites


























































































Throughly enjoyed the day and wasn’t bored like I usually get at shows, when you’re tryna stay enthused about looking at the same car on your 5th lap round 😂

Got cracking on fitting the stock arms today now the paint had time to dry properly. For how crusty they were they didn’t come up too bad at all. Got the old arms off to use the rust free brackets that came on my car.





The old arm that came off was all loose and absolutely horrendous like the passenger side so I’m glad they’re off for good and in the bin.

While I was in there I sprayed some bilt hamber UC through both the arms to protect the inside from rusting out and also behind the brackets just to give it a little helping hand if they’re not coming off again (least till the bushes are shot and I get some poly inserts).



Just waiting for the Volvo front springs to arrive while I seem to be on the topic of suspension I’ll get those sorted as soon as they’re here.

Ahhhh nightmare! Yeah it was like the opposite side to us. Nath was at the end of his teather DjIng cause someone kept tryna play music outta their car over his 😂

Nothing much at all to report, been out as much as I can when it’s wet/moist in the Volvo.

Ruined some tyres





Stuck some part worns on and went out again, starting to get to grips with things a little more but stil have the odd mishap 😂

Last time i had a weekend in Wales it was combined with parts gathering .
