Does anyone on here know the legalities regarding insurance renewals.
Bought a van last year and the insurance is up for renewal. I have just had an email from them thanking me for staying with them for another year. The renewal is not due until the 13th of this month and this is the first I have heard from the company since they were bombarding me on the 100 mile drive home from picking the van up when they were trying to sell me insurance for this, that and the other.
It was a new policy so 0% claims bonus, around £200.
Checked the policy docs for renewal just now and it has gone up to £250 with a years ncb.
I have done an on line quote on comparison site and lots of companies are coming in around £130 so obviously want to change insurers, but looking at the small print from my current insurer it says there is a £45 charge for cancelled policies before the start date. Surely this is man cow poop and they can not charge me for something that is not even valid, thought there was a 14 day cooling off period regardless?
