Problem statement - After working fully remotely for 2.5 years and not needing a car that will start every time I turn the key; I am switching to a job with a weekly 120 mile round trip commute. I've also recently got a puppy and the Mrs is not happy with what the dog is doing to her shiny new interior. Also, my mother-in-law lives down a single track that is inaccessible to normal cars during heavy snow / bad ice, she's getting on a bit and we may need to get there in an emergency.
Plan - Sell the Audi TT 8N 225 BAM that's sitting on the drive waiting for me to care enough to investigate boost, vacuum and power steering leaks, set about the usual platforms where one can find a poopbox daily.
Result - Buy a Subaru Legacy 2.0 GL.
A bit more about the car - 1 former keeper (old lady two villages over who used it go to church, the hairdresser and shopping), 84,xxx miles, decent SH, 2.0 N/A manual with hi & lo range. Pov spec.

Plans
- Find some 15" Subaru alloys (although the slightly rusty steelies are growing on me)
- Tint rear windows
- Replace / upgrade braking system
- Look into suspension adjustments (a small lift would look cool I reckon)
- Clean it, properly - Lots of weird marks from it being parked under a tree, plan to see if the clearcoat has been eaten or if some good old fashioned polish will sort it out - "polishing a turd" springs to mind
- Research other "offroady mods" - Tubular bumpers, winch, bash plates & spotlights anyone?!
- Get the wire brush out underneath and make sure it's treated with a protectant. Thankfully only surface rust and a remarkably small amount for a 21 year old Japanese car
- Who knows?!
