Ok where to begin? I have a decent sized garage, 12m long x 8m (8m width is at the back section, rest is about 6m wide down it’s length) so it’s basically like an L shape. I sold a couple of cars last year, so I have a little room. Anyhow I’ve decided to to do a ‘cheap as possible’ bar build in that rear section. It has its own entrance door, so that’s good for starters & I have collected many many pallets over the last few months for the job. Let’s see how we get on

Eventually the dog could almost see the rabbit, enough to start at any rate

I got the first roof board up, then the weather was too nice so I retired to the summerhouse with a few pints of IPA More to come

Is there/was there a DMC in there? Yes there was since 2006, I sold it last August. The sign you can see is going to go in the bar once done. They are basically smaller versions of the original’Dealer’ signs that were about 25 ft long to hang outside workshop/showrooms etc.

Nice thanks for the photos. I missed out on a couple of deloreans back around the time you bought yours, priced out of them now! Awesome garage. You’re living the dream

Been at it since 9am this morning & literally just sat down in the summerhouse with a beer. Built the stud wall & clad it On this wall I’ve just put planks over the gaps in the pallets, there was no way I was gonna break them all down & fit them flush & I’m happy enough with the result. Also it is gonna have a large TV plus some signs etc, so lots will ‘disappear’

Just on a side note, because it’s in the background, this is my bbq, we call her Christine 😀 My Son lent me this I can’t tell you how much grief it’s saved, I’ve not looked at the price but I’d guess pretty cheap from Screwfix or the like & it’s brilliant. Also as mentioned before, this is a budget build to some degree so I’ve also used old nails from old pallets that have been through the chimnea, then saved from the ashes 😩😀

On the subject of budget I have spent £60 on stud frame timber. I did have some stuff kicking about, but all different sizes etc so I just bit the bullet on that to save time really. The roof boards were £8 each x 6 off (so £48) they are only 3mm which is fine to just close off the loft section, but I couldn’t get the edges to lie straight as they bow & move a bit once nailed up, plus the joists are slightly off on places. So I just put a strip of pallet wood along them to create a bead Think I’ll have enough pallets

Back on the subject of budget, the one extravagance I did go for was these ‘mock’ brick panels. They aren’t cheap at £30 a square meter, but I went for 10 panels to cover 5 square meter. They are 1m wide x 50cm high so two panels gets you a square meter. So £150, but they look fantastic, really realistic & tbh I also thought at least they cover a large area quickly because, you start to lose the will to live after a while processing the pallets. It’s quite labour intensive breaking them down. Anyway what d’ya think? They do literally about 50 different kinds of brick style, I went for a sort of old wash house, come industrial look.

You just sikaflex them to the wall. Then I clad some of the back wall & with batons vertically every so often, by the time you put the pallet planks on top it clears the thickness of the brick panels & allowed me to do a ‘hit miss’ finish at the end.

You will see on the pic with the batons on, there are already rawl plug holes at the top from the old kitchen cupboards I took down. So used those the attach the top of the batons & meant I only had to drill a lower one. That’s the finish point today, it’s coming on nice. Hope you like
