Thanks Phil, yeah got the estate all up and running, moted etc but I just wasn’t happy with it. I don’t know what it was, maybe I should of just left it alone!

No mate keeping this one standard in the engine department just going to lower it and put some nice wheels on it. My mrs bought me a nice steering wheel for the estate which I kept so that will go on as well and just tidy the bodywork up. Just want something a bit different to drive about in. Like you say these were everywhere but now they’ve disappeared, I’ve never been a massive fan of the Mk5 but it was the right price and different!

I was really pleased when I saw the history in the back of the handbook then the tyre pressure notes fell out! Like you say Darren absolutely love things like that it really makes you feel there’s been at least one owner that really looked after the vehicle. Looking forward to adding my own notes to it when I carry out servicing etc.

So things didn’t go to plan with the bodywork on the escort unfortunately, I taxed it 1st of may so I could drive it over to have the work done and then it sat there untouched for a month! Now we all know what British summer time can be like so I decided before summer disappears to go and get my car back and just use it as it is. I bought it home Monday evening and cracked on with changing the suspension for -40mm springs. Managed bits and pieces throughout the week mainly clearing out all the mud and silt from behind the front arch liners, I can see now why the bottom of the wings are frilly! and then yesterday spent the whole day finishing the suspension and giving the old girl a service with new plugs, leads, oil and filter and new air filter. This engine is really quiet and I will add this service to the written history in the back of the book to continue what Mr Millard started. I put my new 15 inch transit courier steels on and ford centre caps just waiting on some black plastic wheel but covers to arrive and the Final job for the day was a good wash and polish, clean the interior and add my Ford rubber mats and the old tea monkey that was in my old estate! Here’s some pictures and today we’re off out later cruising around the sunny Isle of Wight which is exactly what this car was bought for. Thanks Rob.
