Apparently the throttle has got stuck and his inexperience has caused him to panic….. Man that sucks. But the little fella is ok. That is all that matters. I am sure George will learn from this awful experience. This absolutely! George is physically well and that is the most important outcome! The merc is replacable, lots of them left, You just have to search some more. If the escort van was involved, the consequences would have surely been much worse. Not only for George, but also after all that work gone in the van!

^^^^^if it had been the van I doubt he would have got out Fords are poorly built compared to these cars The error of his ways are dawning already no car…..mates as taxis Sort yourself out this time son unfortunately He will learn I’m sure of that

Ooooooooh, glad he's ok. I didn't crash when I was George's age, but I did get done for reckless driving.

George will learn. This the hardest way of all. Experience comes with age. And this he will. It’s a sad story that one day he can pass on to his kids. Knowing that he had a very lucky escape. And with knowledge comes power.

I think most of us had similar experiences when we were younger, mine was clipping a kerb with my Anglia, which pulled it up onto the kerb (wide offset wheels) and into the crash barrier. George's mishap looks worse than it is because the impact is in the centre where there is no real structure on a rwd car, he can't have been going that fast he would have walked away from that in almost any car.

Hello Dan. What an awful scare for you all. Just glad it was a big solid car and George is ok. I've got two girls and had that phone call . Nothing worse. Best wishes Jed

Really neat. Unlike the unruly bunch of reprobates on my drive when I was painting craigrk ‘s extended wagon chassis. Thanks for stopping by.

It's a shame to read about your son.
However, at least he walked away. It's a learning experience for all of us, and most of us have been there.
It's good to hear about your current W202 going well. The design has matured well, as the 'unloved' C Class of the generations. Maybe it arrived a bit too soon for a conservative market.

Thanks to those of you that took the time to comment and private message me about George's accident I’ve calmed down suitably to take it in better now As others have said he’s been a lucky boy, and he’s had to use his savings to buy a runaround which I claybarred and polished up for him, not retro but it’ll see him over a few months now Just a berlingo van bought cheaply from a pal And I couldn’t resist a dig by fitting the w202 hubcaps! Just to remind him he’s got a little bit of merc left Got a quick photo opportunity whilst passing a certain members on here’s house, didn’t stop just took a liberty and parked in his drive !

Todays jobs on the new house meant precious little car time I did go out early this morning for quick run I can’t explain why I keep going back to these w202 mercs But whilst standing taking some pics I just thought the lines are just perfect, I’ve always had a thing for four door saloons And these are built far superior to all my 90s fords I’ve owned Slowly these seem to be getting a bit of a following Got the thumbs up from a group of racing cyclists this morning too😁

So I asked for Advice in the buying section on here last night I was looking for another ford and hadn’t considered a ford puma One came up near to my parents house I was told by the owner it was absolutely mint, my interpretation of mint is normally way off what I find when I’m looking to buy But as soon as the owner opened his garage I’d bought this car It’s in absolutely first class condition under sealed and rust protected from new and unbelievably a very expensive respray last year due to lacquer peel and fade It’s a puma thunder so a bit of a rare limited edition Plans are to leave it exactly as it is and get to a few shows this summer, the ideal car alongside my W202
