I have a 200tdi range rover which is nearing mot time after not being used for 5 years.
Starts fine, idles fine, but giving it some revs whilst stationary results in a lot of smoke which I do not recall it doing 5 years ago.
Tried with open turbo to check for inlet restrictions, no change. Pump timing is ok.
Will check the oil cyclone, injectors and valve clearances but ultimately it has been something associated with lack of use seems to have triggered it. Would aging diesel fuel be a potential?
