Actually 3 - sorry ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) 1. If I do as suggested in another thread and use a standard HIF metro carb with turbo throttle gubbins etc... is that then turbo capable or is there more involved? 2. By my simple back-yard mathz skilzorz ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) - If I simply bolt up two of them to my 2.5 then they'll be sorted (with twin turbos) and alls' good? I know I can go engine swap route - but wanted to screw around with something I ain't too fussed about breaking, to see what I can achieve and do some major learning in the process - then I'll swap it out ;D. Thanks John EDIT - before anyone comments - the 3 and only 2 questions was a lame attempt at abusing my mathz skilzzzzz ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I'm unsure about the jetting - 1275 + 1275 = 2550 so theoretically that should be OK. You might need to look at the float on the carb. If it's hollow then it may crush and sink under boost, leading to the float chamber overflowing. I'm not too sure on all the differences between turbo and NA HIFs. Wouldn't it be easier just to get a pair of MG Metro SU's? ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

It will need a proper seal under the dashpot, and check if the float chamber is vented to the little hole next to one of the bolt holes for the air filter. If not this needs drilling from what ive been told by AC Dodd. Float should be OK at low ish boost but I'm not even sure if the metro turbo float was foam filled or not.
DEFINATELY rebuild it. Ive never seen a used SU that doesnt need rebuilding
It WONT fuel anything like correctly though so will need a proper rolling road tune by an SU specialist and good ones of those are hard to find!

In fact, go to burlens site, they have exploded diagrams of all the carbs so you can check for any parts that are different, and any additional parts

Oh and if you are in the south, AC would be the best bet for tuning. Lots of SU experience and built a twin turbo v8, so knows how to get the turbo carbs working on other engines ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

A Maestro/Montego Turbo carb will fuel the 2.5 no problem
I've run a twin carb turbo setup and its a pain to keep balanced

thanks guys - will check out Burlens..... AC? I knew that float chamber flooding was a potential issue - but didn't know exactly why - thanks for the clarification. - Foam filled float on the purchase list too then - should be an option.
As I'm rebuilding them anyway - it would be easier to source standard carbs and modify them I guessed - I'll do some digging.
Thanks again.
