Tomorrow I'm going to cash the tax disc in on the Golf and declare it SORN... The insurance has just run out, I've got serious cash-flow problems and I just can't afford to keep it on the road for the time being I've been driving my Girlfriends car for the last couple of months, done hardly any miles in the Golf at all. I really miss it, but needs must so it's going to sit in the driveway for a little while until I get myself sorted again! Gives me a chance to have a go at refurbishing the P-Slot rims myself, Dremel at the ready ;D ;D

Hopefully it won't be off the road too long, it'll give me chance to tackle a few jobs on it now I won't be using it every day. Every cloud and all that...

I know the feeling mate - my Benz is off the road because for one thing I can't afford to put petrol in her I'm that skint . Gotta wait until my bank balance is a bit healthier! Look on the bright side - at least you avoid the salted roads this winter! I'm also using this time off the road to sort some things out... maybe the transplant if funds improve! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you dude - I'm pretty much in the same boat

know exactly how you feel.... main reason i sold the G40 is that it had so much cash tied up in it and it needed £400-£500 spending in the next 6 months (don't fret, the buyer knew what it needed!) which is why i've been so god damn nervous about the audi getting on the road without too much £££. but yeah if you ever fancy a "lets rip darrens golf apart" party, i'm sure we could all come round and play at being restorers for a weekend

Feel for ya mate! My financial situation ain't too hot at the moment either, and I've somehow gotta find £500 to pay for work on the Fastback.
At least you're trying to look on the bright side!
I can feel a Life of Brian moment coming along...... ;D

Hope it comes together for you work wise. I've been there a few times.
Still, as you say, now you can really get into the Golf, much easier than working on a daily driver.
Best of luck.

Know exactly how you feel Darren. I took the Mini off the road in January as I wasn't going to use it for the winter, but I've never had enough money to tax, MOT and Insure it.

Sorry to hear that Darren, it is an expensive little b@stard to insure & run. I would usually take this opportunity to come round to your house and offer you a wad of cash for the Mk1 but as you know I've just bought a house so I know what skint is! I say get it well waxoiled (sp?) and rustproofed, give it a thick coat of polish and catch up on a few jobs on it, get it sorted for the better weather next year. Sure everything will work out for the best, it's still a sweet car whether on the road or not!

hard luck fella....
I know what its like. I was made redundant, in the process of buying a house, and had no car at all! Fortunately it doesn't stay like this forever....
Keep us posted, and at least live your dreams on the web!
