Bought this car as a broken run down auto many years ago, and decided i wanted to build a 'sleeper'
and so it began over 7 years ago, should have been finished about 3 years ago, but due to some people in this world thinking they can build, modify, improve, or even offer a basic service, it took a little longer to find those competent enough to take on such a project, but now, i really have 'lost my mojo' and so the car is now up for sale.
READ ON ........
Interior; recovered rear seats with the FORD emblem stitched left and right of the rear seat, Front seats are from a Ford Capri, headrests removed many years ago and re-covered, quite rare Recaro style seats, one will need stitching looking at, but this is not a ripped to shreds seat, both are in good condition with no rips or bits missing.
Centre console is custom made, you won't find another! (if you do... Lucky you!) standard 4 door black carpet, not mint but still has life in it, carpet had to be cut due to the size of the tunnel. Standard dash, dash top has a a split on the drivers side, but these can be re-covered
all 4 doors have the plastic sheeting behind the door cards, all windows and doors open/shut, and both front doors lock, replacement wiper motor fitted 2 years ago
Glove box comes with the car, but is not currently fitted. Interior overall is very tidy (not bad for 40+ years) All lights/electrics work. The car has the 140mph speedo dash, also currently fitted with a Nardi steering wheel, (BUT STEERING WHEEL IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE….)
Exterior;/underside; Headlights were new when fitted a few years ago, Bumpers are straight, rear bumper has had part of the strip removed (for the effect)
the drivers door was rotten when i bought the car, so it was replaced with the odd coloured one, light rust but solid, all the filler and welding marks/areas were rubbed down and coats of laquer applied, the body is solid, and although it looks very messy/scruffy, this is the effect i wanted, after all the work that has gone into this, i could have had it sprayed one colour and made to look pretty, but there are enough of these out there with that look, so it's nice to be a little 'different' without trying to re-invent the wheel. Front slam panel, valence top wing rail, both front wings, sills and rear arches all replaced with new Magnum panels
whole of the underside has been sprayed with primer, waxoyl, shultz, stone chip etc....
The shell has had some welding, it's NOT mint, but very solid. Bonnet has been modified (not many like this!) see photo's, this has been done to a very good standard, and took 3 days to get right!, definitely a one off! (if you see another... Again, your very lucky!)
Suspension;/Braking Rear suspension has uprated shock absorbers with single leaf springs, ATLAS rear axle with thicker shafts, double pinned discs and callipers, Fronts are adjustable coil overs with larger callipers and vented discs, Bias pedal box. The rear diff is a 3:44 ratio as I wanted the car to be able to stretch it's legs rather than be a fast road/race car, so you should be able to get the most out of the engine rather than screaming off and doing a 0 to 90 in a matter of seconds and running out of power, although this is pretty quick off the mark, it will drive well in traffic with no problems, yet able to keep up easily with modern traffic, possibly even leading the way.
The rear Atlas was fitted brand new as were the coil overs and most parts for this car, it's spent most of it's life being either pushed from one corner of a workshop to the other, or being shifted via a transporter.
Front anti dive bar is the wider type, all bushes/brackets were fitted new, new oil/fuel/brake pipes were fitted new, new brake pads etc.... All hoses were new, no expense has been spared on this, if parts were not brand new, they were very good second hand.
Engine PLUS! OK, vauxhall redtop 2 litre 16V, complete rebuild, acid dipped, lightened and balanced crank, paddle clutch (brand new) pistons are brand new uprated Wossener type 84mm possibly bigger? ( I will check the build sheet)
Head has been stripped and rebuilt using all new parts, this is a Group B martech head, The camshafts as well as the pistons are Brand new, but these are standard, new oil filter, remote oil filter fitted, Brand new ecu from SBD motorsports (£1,750) Brand new throttle bodies (Jenvey type) fitted, inlet manifold (rare find) fitted, 4 branch racing exhaust, Alternator is probably the oldest part fitted to the engine, new belts all round, engine has done NO Miles, just started up, moved about, and taken round the grounds of the workshop, (never had a wheel turned in anger) the radiator is an alloy type brand new and has an electric fan and new switch fitted. Engine bay has been resprayed the same colour as the interiors floor, The tunnel has been modified to a very good standard to accompany the bigger Vauxhall Omega 5 speed V6 gearbox (a very strong box, good enough to take over 350BHP) The gearbox mount/bracket has been hand made and is solid, the propshaft is custom made and professionally balanced by Propshaft services, apart from the exhaust manifold, the rest of the exhaust is brand new, not too loud, not too subtle either, but just enough.
Anti tramp bars have been fitted and lowering blocks also, wheels are deep dish Mexico steels refurbished a couple of years ago, rears are 205 13's, fronts are 185's all were new, and also balanced, and are in very good condition, because of the head and the uprated pistons, the engine should produce a healthy 180/190 BHP with lots of room to spare, feeding the engine is an alloy fuel tank with built in swirl pot housed in the boot, fuel pump fitted, battery is in the boot in a proper battery container, thousands have been spent on this one off car, I called it a VAUD Escort because of the obvious, certainly an eye catcher, but, I have lost my drive/mojo, the car deserves to be used, not to be left in a corner and run up every couple of months, yes it could be one colour, yes it can be uprated and made to go faster, but I suggest you buy it first, then do as you please, the car certainly needs viewing, sensible offers in the region of the asking price welcome, I am happy to take a 900 or 1000cc motorbike in part ex, possibly a Fireblade, but i can only come down price-wise a certain amount, I am advertising on here as I don't expect abuse, or keyboard warriors as you would elsewhere, and the last thing i need is to hear...'shame it's got 4 doors' or... i'd buy it if the door was yellow!
There you have it! Car is based in Essex, Genuine interest only, no tyre kickers or test pilots, finally, This is NOT MOT exempt due to being modified, Unless you wish to continue using the standard logbook.
