Hi peeps, Seen this escort parked in a carpark nearby, I've noticed it over the years. I recently missed out on a E46 330i which was scraped as the owner didn't know I was interested in it. Last week I knocked on the door was told that the car was due to be disposed of, she was pleased I asked. The owner a older Japanese lady had it for the last 21 years. It's got 67k with all MOT's confirming it's accurate as it's got a 5 digit millage counter. Pictures as I bought it. It was last used pre COVID and not moved in a year and a half. It's fitted with 130bhp 1.8 but cranks but doesn't fire up, inertia switch is good so the relay and fuel pump is suspected. Issues -It's missing a toe cover on the bumper -Roof has a rip each side by the back window. -rear side cards fabric has come apart and needs glueing -Fuel issue/pump needs investigating The car reg ends in DW which states it was registered in Cardiff but has Dagenham plate surrounding and paperwork. According to HowManyLeft website indicates 60 or so 1.8 Convertible's taxed and not sure how many SI 130's. Not used to fords but this seems like a original car kinda wish it was a Mk5 as I prefer that shape but this bubble shape is of it's time. If anyone has genuine interior mats, toe bar cover for a Mk6 bubble bumper or a roof please PM me. What's your thoughts about them?

What kind of systems/website do you use as I was going to speak to a local dealer/part centre. I do wish it was a hard 3 door hard top, I haven't driven it so hopefully it's relatively nippy. Appreciate it bud. I'll PM you shortly.

Thanks to cpn105e with the build sheet. I was struggling to find the colour and was good to see all the details and spec.
Will go into the folder I'm putting together.
Amazing stuff

Had a hour or so with the car this morning. Thanks to cpn105e found the paint code on the build sheet as Auralis blue 2, looks lovely on a escort cosworth Quick clean of the battery tray area and surroundings. Just some surface rust to edges but solid. Placed a decent fully tested and charged battery. Was lucky to find the original if not warped cover Once the negative was placed on the battery post the horn just keeps sounding....I tried the ignition with the red key, closing the doors with no joy. After my wife shouted from the windows I disconnected it. Popped the horn/hazard fuse (28) which allowed me to connect the negative try the car without my ears ringing. I think it's the alarm/immobilizer kicking in. Either way I can hear the fuse click for the fuel pump but no buzz. Will continue the fuel issue another time. Good news other than surface rust the sills are good and solid, the arches are original and again solid. Anyone know why the horn sounds continually?

Can't remember if it was that model or the one before (possibly both) that had a lot of fuse box issues when they were not very old. When you say you hear the fuel pump fuse click, you mean relay, right?

Can't remember if it was that model or the one before (possibly both) that had a lot of fuse box issues when they were not very old. When you say you hear the fuel pump fuse click, you mean relay, right? Yeah the relay behind the main board. Strange as I had no horn sounds with the older drained battery which was jumped, removed charged then reconnected. The old battery was boated to the sides so was changed. Everything looks dry and clean around the board. I just can't hear a buzz for the fuel pump priming. Unfortunately the fuel pump is in tank and no access port. I'll drop the tank and test the wires prior to replacing the fuel pump. Thanks for any pointers and help

If the alarm is sounding wouldn't that "cut" the ignition and the fuel pump ?
What's the grey 'thingy' just in front of the battery ?

Think this car has PATS security system like other fords from this era, guess so many were nicked this system prevented joyriders and dumb owners like me

There’s a relay if I remember correctly Behind the drivers side kick panel If it’s the same as the si we had a few years ago Changed this relay as this controlled the fuel pump and immobiliser

That's the one I think I need to test, when I get time I'll test power to this or the relay itself. Otherwise test the fuel pump. I hear a click behind the fuse box. I believe it looks like this (Ignore the red arrow above it's a stock photo) but reading forum posts on a ford website, the fuel relay is listed as R7a. I believe a brown relay, circled below.

Replace the horn with a bulb on two fly leads. Then you can avoid being shouted at, but still see if the issue is getting resolved.
The horn will sound unless the security system is disarmed, I'd be asking people that know how the system gets disarmed. It won't like having the battery disconnected, so it might be worth seeing if there a sync procedure for it after disconnect?
