They sure are getting rare that's for sure! Although mine is Dragon Green I believe rather than the blue yours is. Yours does look great though! I always thought that the BBS wheels on mine had correct centre caps, but every other one I've seen has the same as yours, wonder what's up there? Have you done much to yours aside from enjoy it? I'd have loved to have the full black leather interior, stripped out is horrible unless it's for an out and out track car. Ha yes, I was aware of the Giugiaro connection as he also penned the Isuzu Piazza which looks very very similar to the Corrado. It's almost like he had a thing for wedges haha! I'll try to bring updates as often as I can. free time and space is a massive factor at the moment unfortunately, and parts are weirdly expensive for these little cars compared to the same era Golf's etc. Thanks for sharing yours 🤣🤣🤣....... I need to get my eyes tested! .....now you say it, I can clearly see yours is dragon green. A common colour on the VR6.....but as you say, rare on the G60. Do your centre caps have BBS stamped on the back of them. I remember being worried about leaving my car in car parks, as at the time these centre caps were being pinched all the time. Maybe that's what happened to yours and then subsequently replaced with aftermarket items? Engine wise.....mine's standard apart from the stage 2...or 3 ( I can't remember ) Jabber Sport supercharger and full Magnex stainless exhaust. I did have it lowered on coil overs with genuine 15 x 8 BBS RM split rims ( which I've still got ). But put it back to standard before taking it off the road. Dan Haha! I don't know a huge amount about them really so not sure what's rare on what model and what's not. I think they are genuine BBS but perhaps from an E30 BMW BBS or something similar. I have had centres pinched before as well, it has crossed my mind on this one too, but it's covered up 99% of the time so hopefully no one has clocked it, it's quite out the way too fortunately. I do have a number of Jabba "stage" parts but not sure what they are so I think I shall leave it alone engine-wise aside from service parts. They are supposed to go well with a 68mm pulley but again, think I'll leave that to the next custodian...

Parts are only mad if they're Corrado specific, the rest are just Passat or Golf. Love a Corrado, honestly one of the best handling FWD cars ever made.

I thought they were mostly Golf-based anyways? Things like fog lamps are wild money! (not that I need them, I have just seen the prices).

Yeah, lights, lower splitter, bits of interior are Corrado specific. But most of the running gear is B3/B4 Passat, as is the wiring and switchgear. Pedal boxes are definitely Passat, clocks are too IIRC. Lots of places doing repro parts for the '80s and '90s VWs now as well - Werk34's stuff is easily as good as OEM.

Think it's only the fog light glass that's unobtainable - the light units were the same as big bumper mk2 GTIs, or any mk3 Golf with factory fogs, again IIRC. Knowing what fits what is half the battle when it comes to sorting it out for sensible money. Or when it comes to selling ordinary VW stuff on eBay with Corrado Tax...

Yeah the splitters are big money for a flap of plastic haha! And totally agree, the Corrado does seem to be taxed so being able to find a "Passat" part would be a saving!

Small delivery last night, a replacement fuse box to see if it cures the indicators/hazards and windows. There's a few electric anomalies which I have been advised could be down to a duff fuse box. Apparently they do sort of just combust a bit and are generally unreliable (also old). Found a generic era-specific diagram which is hopefully correct. Plan to swap it out over the weekend provided that it's not b*stard cold like it is today (-4 here this morning). Taking bets on whether or not I have labelled it wrong, I bet I have... Also two large wires cut which I would guess are main power? Hopefully should be able to just pop off the connector and use the one already on the car. There are a few popped fuses too, so will whip the whole lot out and replace them all with nice new ones to give it the best chance.

Imagine it's CE2 electrics in this so should be plug and play with the fusebox. if it's anything like a Mk2, specific plugs for specific ports so can't really go too far wrong. A/C hey, flashy flashy

They are good for FWD cars, although I did prefer the fiat coupe handling at the time. I guess things have moved on a lot in the FWD world now and tyres are a lot better these days than they were in the late 80s

A/C hey, flashy flashy I think the fuseboxes are pretty much the same throughout most models of the era and yeah, I've already consulted my VW man who says you can't really cock it up haha! Oh trust that the A/C is 100% not there, that's if it even came with it in the first place! It's just what that particular relay spot does/did. I knew if I left it, I'd be all "what the hell is that for !?"

I think that the Integra Type R has been hailed as THE best but I'm sure there are plenty of others that are also great!

Yeah, that's a later CE2 fusebox with all the extra fuses stuck on top. The main power feeds are red and brown and can only go in one place, although you might have to pop that red bitty off. Can't quite remember as it's been a while since I've been in at one. As said, it's poki-yoki principle and you really cannot get anything in the wrong slot.

Worth swapping the wiper relay as well - it'll currently be 19. Popping in a 99 from a mk3 Golf onwards era VAG car will get you a programmable intermittent delay.

I shall have a proper look tomorrow morning and see what the score is with the power etc Worth swapping the wiper relay as well - it'll currently be 19. So this weekend was filled with abject failure haha! My plans were to swap out the fuse box to see if I could sort the windows and lights. The windows don't work at all and the lights are a little erratic, they do work but the switch seems a bit odd in that, if you turn the car off with the key but have the lights on, it will continue to run. Once the lights are turned off, it'll turn the car off. Weird. New fuse box loaded up ready to go. Old fuse box in situ. This was horrible, all the plugs on the reverse were a nightmare to pull out as were mostly stuck in (this sort of confirmed my thoughts that there was some corrosion in there attributing to the issues), my fingers were ruined after this job and of course, there is just no room to really get at much under there. Swapped it all out eventually, (took about an hour) went to test the windows etc... no change. shitonit. So that was a bust. Need to check the switches and relays but ran out of time. Was going to check the timing too, but I think maybe the blue coolant temp sensor has gone down now as it struggles to start and when it does, is just quite unhappy. One step forward a billion steps back an all that. Next weekend's jobs will be to swap out the blue sensor for a new one, swap out the plugs and leads and also dizzy cap and see where we are. Also want to swap out the lambda sensor. That way, the ignition side of things should all be new and the main sensors should also be new. I have noticed a loose wire in the bay down by the dizzy (along with some HUGE spider corpses), also I think there are some loose wires behind the fuse box, I need to identify what all of these are. Don't you love it when someone else has been poking about and doesn't put stuff back!?

More to keep everything in one place than anything else and to act as a sort of service history sorta thing. Below is a list of things I'm going to replace/check (and clean if required). Also stuck a bid on some interior bits, "only a tenner" I thought to myself, why not. It wasn't until later on that I saw the nearly £20 postage! Now it's not a huge amount for the size of the parcel it would be but I just don't wanna pay 200% postage on a part that's not strictly required at the moment, fortunately someone sniped me at the very end for 50p. Thank you mysterious stranger!

What interior parts do you need? Have a bunch of random interior parts in the shed! To be honest mate, pretty much everything. I’ve managed to get a hold of door cards and under-dash bits. I’d like to get a hold of a centre console (as above), the A & B pillar plastics as well as rear quarter plastics.

Okay I will have a look tomorrow and see what I've got
I know you say you're not a fan of vw's normally but the Corrado is an incredible car. The handling is brilliant & they're easy to work on. Agreed it's a shame about the price of specific parts now, but it's the same with anything retro and sought after really isn't it!
If you end up using it as your daily a taller 5th gear is easy to swap in with gearbox end plate removed whilst still in the car, just a bit better for cruising speeds. Also if you find the gearshift a bit like stirring a bowl of porridge on the 02a, the 02j shifter tower for the gearbox & cables give a nice tight shift ffeel. Cheap and readily available from early mk4 golf/mk1 leon/mk1 octavia tdi's, ibiza/polo, mk2 caddy van tdi etc.

To be honest, the Corrado is one of the few I actually don't mind. The styling is cool and having a supercharger definitely helps! And yeah, despite it's flaws, it's actually not bad to work on. Funnily enough, I have a spare gearbox which I am told has longer ratios? I need to see what box it is though. That's great info, thank you! The shift is a bit sloppy and I think a friend of mine has a Leon or Ibiza for breaking at the mo so I'll see what he has.
