The weather is duurty here but the Speedster was filthy and covered in various dusts. I stuck it through the self wash to spruce it up a little (even though it's bit of urinating into the gale) and it's back in it's usual parking spot under it's own steam for the first time since early December.

Replaced the boot lining and the carpet. I may not keep these in situ long term but for the moment it tidies the garage up a little more.

In the top of the previous picture you can see a collection of relays. These are normally mounted to a really awkward spot high up on top of the arch. The mount did not want to reattach to the arch and that's fine by me. I'll come up with a better mounting solution ..... well I actually have, it will be velcro.

While reattaching pieces I came across some coilovers that Xavi had given to me previously. He bought them and one was blown so he did not install them and before getting it rebuilt he decided to go a different direction. There are a few important aspects to these. Firstly they were free, thanks again to Xavi! Secondly they are Sachs items so the quality is top notch. The most important is the little yellow booklet. These are the homologation papers for Switzerland which allows me to legally install them on the Speedster. I'm not going to jump in to this now but I'll probably get them rebuilt/refreshed over the Summer and get them on the list for next Winter's improvements.

It's school holidays here so the kids are about the house. My son had a mate over and my daughter had* been sick this week so I took her out for a leisurely spin. All was fine until she vommed in the car on the way home. Turns out *had was actually still is. I did a lot of swerving and jumping and manoeuvring which resulted in a relatively quick extraction buuuut not quick enough. Off out now to try and scrub the seatbelt.

It would not be so bad but she did a much more thorough job on the inside of the X1 yesterday. I’m sitting in it right now and I can confirm my 60 mins of cleaning yesterday did not solve the issue.

I am leaving the roof off and wearing a hat to push the need to deal with the belt down the line a bit. Sunny and just above freezing here which just mean shades and woolly hat. Love it! You may have picked up in previous shots that there are some vents behind the doors. These normally have wire grilles in the gap. When the clam was removed these decided to make a break for freedom. I was thinking about leaving them off entirely but it's not the most visually pleasing area so they will go back on after the wrap If there is someone out there with a greater understanding of airflow I'd appreciate some input of this next bit. Below is the where the airbox breathes. As you can see it's just open in the recess. Any point in running a length of pipe right up to the opening?

My son did that on the motorway in my brother-in-laws brand new Octavia. He didn't keep it very long after that.

Smell appears to have been removed. Let's see what happens when the weather gets better.

As an aside the above pic really shows the extent of the paint issues. Look at the peel !

Today was the day. Finally time to really push the Speedster on a bit and head to the office. So my office is in Luzern about 70km from home. There are a number of alternative routes. Today it was over a small pass which is quiet and with some great cornering opportunities. Weather was just above freezing but the sun was out so wrap up warm and leave the roof off. Some shots from the top of the pass. iPhone cameras do fisheye quite a bit but you get the jist. It's a revelation. I'm delighted with the outcome. The geo tweaks and the extra grunt have really made the car a perfect driving experience for me. The best way to describe it is effortless.

More power not required then?
Looks like a hoot on those roads!

No need for more power imo. I came back on the motorway as I was in a rush to get home and it’s even more notable at motorway speeds.
These roads are the reason this car has become my favourite ever owned.
