I want to replace my Midgets seats and know the common route is early MX5 or MGF/TF but what else fits ? I've just had the floor replaced so before it all gets painted I'm happy to redrill holes or make mounts up and weld the old holes. It seems usual to swap drivers/passengers over to allow the backrest adjuster to be used due to width.
I would like to have separate headrests rather than an all in one.
Mk1 Audi TT seats look nice for a fair price in leather, any thoughts about width ?

The problem you have with the Midget is that it's tiny inside. I have the same issue with my Midas which is not only very narrow but has a low roof. If you're wanting to put the roof up you may struggle with anything with a built in headrest. Pretty much the only ones that fitted were MGF seats, Mk1 MX-5 or something aftermarket. Early CRX seats fit apparently but would be hard to find. Smart For2 seats for example are very tall. I would be looking at measuring not only the space available and getting measurements from the vendor or potentially looking at aftermarket seats. I found a pair of low-back buckets secondhand (but practically unused - type in link below) on eBay for about a 1/8 of the original price. www.minispares.com/product/Classic/Interior/Seats_Belts/Seats/SEAT04.aspx?170501&ReturnUrl=/shop/classic/Interior/Seats,~belts.aspx|Back%20to%20shop

I suspect Audi TT seats will be too wide in a Midget. I fit in them and i have generous gluteous maximus proportions ........

Had a quick look at that thread, interesting that it says Rover 200 seats fit, will have to measure the Coupes ones at the weekend. Thanks all for the input.

could look at Fiat Cinquecento Sporting or Seicento Sporting seats, they arent big and do have removable headrests.

Certainly Mk1 and Mk2 Mx 5 seats fit into Midgets/Sprites. The low back ones with removable headrests are best if you want to use a tonneau cover. At the 2019 NEC show, all but one of the cars on the Midget and Sprite Club stand had MX seats!

Having an A35, I know how difficult it is to get nice seats to fit, the seats I fancied and know are comfortable are ford capri recarros, dispose of the headrests and they don't look to bad either.

In some ways, I'd say a Mini has more room inside than a Spridget, for two reasons -No transmission tunnel ; That will make a decent difference, as you'll have more floor space available. As long as you can get to the handbrake, the seats in theory can be almost touching and most things would fit in a Mini. -It's wider (1372 for a Mk1-3 Spridget vs 1410cm for a Mini). As said, MX-5 seats are the obvious one. If it were me, I'd be tempted with something akin to the Corbeau Classic seats. That said, they may not be the most comfortable, but there may be an iteration that is from another company.

Thanks for all the replies. I found a MG TF being broken on Ebay and a quarter picture of the interior revealed full leather seats last weekend. A roadtrip later and I have a pair of TF seats to fit for a very reasonable price. They need a good clean but otherwise are in great condition.
