its not old, nor high performance?!
but for a car of that value, maybe try the owners groups on facebook, but otherwise certainly pistonheads and autotrader.
My experience above is from owners groups. Yes, some owners are chancers, but it just goes on and on.
pauly22 was discussing this on my M3 thread. I'll give you 2 examples I can think of
2004 E46 M3 110k, Great condition, Boot Floor done, SMG. Slight rust on front wings. £11k
-Nah bruv, only worth £6k (for reference, the engines alone go for this much now...)
-If only it didn't had red lather
-I can get one for £5k bruv. It's mint bruvva. It's closer to Bradford, too.
-I paid £6k for mine 8 years ago It's too much.
-It's an SMG. It's only worth £3k (read my comment about what the engines go for now ; Gearboxes of either flavour are £700+ for a non-cruncher, and so on and so on).
2002 Manual Coupe, boot floor is ok but not plated. decent history with grey leather. £12.5
-Grey leather devalues it. I'll give £7k tomorrow
-Basically a rinse and repeat of the above.
For this reason, I've unfollowed the group. The Classic Cars for Sale group is just as bad now. Someone tried to sell a decent Cortina for £5k. It was basically exactly the same as the above, with people offering the guy £1-2k.
The ST one isn't as bad, but it's still there. For this reason, I've not put my ST220 on there. Despite the fact that
-It's low mileage for an estate @ 97k
-It has decent history
-It's in a colour combo many ST owners want (Silver with red leather)
-Has 4 refurbed wheels and brand new F1s all round
-Is on a fresh cooling system, which is a known Achillies heel.
I frankly have better things to do than to deal with dreamers who don't have a pot to wee in. Many folks here probably do as well. I've had some folks on eBay offer me alot less than what I want, but at least it's not cluttering up yet another pointless thread on Facebook.
I know I'm going on. I want a Mini 1275. I don't however go around berating posts, regaling tales of how I could have bought really nice ones for £2k back in 2004. I keep my mouth shut, as does anyone who has manners frankly.
Yup, those groups really get on my wick.
TDLR version : Owners groups are the worst places to sell a car. Too many egos, and too many rude folks stuck somewhere between 1990 and 2005. Maybe time travel really is a thing!
