That one was built around Ford GT40 parts. It has been lost for a long time ( more than likely gone) If I had the time and resources I would absolutely build a clone. And also of other long lost esoteric greats. Like the Berpop, Dizzy Addicott's Lotus 15 ( Buick V8 powered), etc. But not one of the Morrari ( A low light Morris Minor on a single seater Ferrari chassis with a Vette V8), because somebody beat me to it...

Not seen a Mk1 Transit since forever and isn't that the V6 one, with the odd "pig nose" front grille? So maybe an ambulance or something? They used that front end on the diesel versions too; it’s more likely to be one of those I would think.

I misunderstood what horrido meant.. I've seen some Mk1 V6 Transits, but I thought they were all later conversions. Never realized there were factory built ones.

The original Supervan was (somewhat unsurpisingly) destroyed in a roll over accident.

Me and a buddy put the windshield in ( not a 1 man job...) I bought a windshield seal without the stainless trim, because I'm trying to tone down all the chromy/shiny stuff a bit. All of the wiring and almost all of the plumbing under the hood is done. My new seats came in. (I'll have to modify the seat risers a bit to make them fit) And we put the lower grille on ( temporary, to see how it looks) I straightened and took dents out of that earlier...

This truck just keeps putting a big grin on my face with the work you are putting in it.
Glad the screen went it. And understand the chrome delete as well.

Thanks grizz . The lower grille is made out of thin aluminum ( of the version with a chrome upper, the painted version was steel), and it had a nasty dent in it. I guess the truck had some sort of guard on it at some point, and it must have touched. I was able to very carefully take the dent out. And I took the anodizing off with oven cleaner, and gave it a brush finish with a Scotch Pad. The upper grille ( chromed steel) had extra holes drilled in it, as well as dents. So I worked on that a couple of days. Hopefully its good enough to bring to the chrome shop, they may have to refine it a bit, and then rechrome. This will be one of the very few pieces of chrome on the truck, but its kind of prominent so it needs to be nice... I've looked at a lot of pics of 1960 trucks ( both stock & modified), to see what my favorite combination of finishes is. And basically, I want a better version of what it was before. As a plan B, incase I can't afford the chrome, I've got a painted version grille ( both upper & lower). If I have to fall back on that one, I'll have it powder coated in satin black. Its in pretty nice shape, but it would have to get some dents taken out of it as well...

Why not wheels&interior grey instead of satin black?

Why not wheels&interior grey instead of satin black? I thought about that. Or maybe even just a gray upper and shiny black lower. But I think that turns the gray into too much of a 2nd color, almost like a 2tone paint job. Instead of having the gray for just a couple of highlites. My chrome upper is at the chromeshop now. We'll see how that goes...

Here is some of my thinking on it, with random pics off the 'net ( apologies to their owners...) -One solid lighter color, as part of a 2tone paint job. -Black grille on black truck. I could find a pic with a satin black grille, but not of one on a shiny truck. It makes the nose really massive looking, but I could live with it. -Just chrome headlight doors but body color everything else. Don't like this look at all. -Chrome upper, body color lower. Better, but not "right" ( for me, anyway... ) -Full Chrome upper and lower. Too much... And what I hope to get, a better version of this. -Chrome upper, satin aluminum lower. Its what my truck was before, so maybe that is why it is "the picture in my mind"...

BTW, looking at all those pics of my last post.
What is really amazing to me, is how much the character of those trucks changes with just a change of plating or paint of the grille...
That grille is a really unique feature of that truck. Maybe the Fridge trucks were the first Dogbone Ford grille's? ( Mk1 Escort, Mk1 Capri)

Not sure of it inspired the dogbone grilles. But I see a similarity with the 1962 Thunderbird.

braaap , yeah... I haven't noticed how similar those grilles are, but you are right. I see a lot of Corsair in that car too. BTW, the US/ UK design similarities are not that far fetched. Roy A Brown, the designer of the Mk1 Cortina ( a massive success for Ford) , was "promoted away" from Detroit after being blamed for part of the Edsel's lack of sales.

Will you refit the bumper? To me (at least) it needs it.

Will you refit the bumper? To me (at least) it needs it. No bumpers. I finished off both front and rear rolled pans instead. I think the design of the truck is really good, but there was too much stuff hanging off it and distracting from the lines. ( like the bumpers, big gaudy emblems, etc.)

The door glass is in. All the visible parts are powdercoated satin black. I had to use some of my original parts, so I took plenty of pics before I took them apart All the parts are held on with brass blind rivets ( that's OK, I have a rivet gun for that, ex aircraft surplus). So it all went back together without any problems.

Now that the windshield was in, I could put the antenna in ( it sticks to the inside of the windshield). And when that was in, I could put radio in, and finish the dash.
