An air/vacuum leak perhaps? Is there any way the throttle cable could be binding somehow?

Following on from igor, are you actually getting full throttle travel? Cable too loose etc? Carefully spray some carb cleaner around the inlet mani/ gaskets and listen for revs increase |

Hi, It sounds like a problem with the accelerator pump on the carb. With the filter off and looking down the venturi when you open the throttle there should be a squirt of fuel going down, if not it's probably the acc pump diaphragm.

I took this carb off - is the accelerator pump the thing on the bottom, when pressed it squirts fuel in, and is connected to the throttle linkage. Well that was kind of stiff and clanked free when I pressed it. It seems to work fine now! Some of the brackets etc were not straight so bent everything back into position - I have an MOT for the SJ tomorrow so nice it's all working.  |
