One of my favourite magazines is Garage Life from Japan, it is afterall where I stole the name of this section of the site from.
I found it for the first time on a trip to T-Site in Daikanyama in Tokyo. T-Site is a book store and coffee shop that has an excellent car section. Browsing in store it is easier to find interesting titles compared to garbled online searches. Thus Garage Life jumped out at me.
It is a magazine about garages, the layout, contents, tools and ambience that make up an enthusiasts garage. I recently bought some more from Japan (if anyone is interested in a thread about finding and buying Japanese magazines I'll happily make one).
What I found was over time the magazine has changed the earlier issues are more grass roots, later issues are more focused on high end stuff.
Here are some shots from an earlier issue.
Then the later two I got recently were a bit more polished.
In the later ones they have neat diagrams/floorplans of the spaces which are interesting to see.
There was also an indepth feature on garage doors in this one (this is just the start it is about fifteen pages long)
My very favourite part of these magazines though is the earlier ones with their DIY section. Here for example is a DIY guide for some compact motorcycle storage.
The original one I bought (which I'm trying to find, but can't seem to locate at the moment) has a good DIY guide for wall mounted wheel storage.
I'm going to try and get all the earlier ones as I'd like to see more of their DIY things, maybe even use a few in my new garage.
