This Capri 280 was on auction at Mathewsons on Saturday 13 November 2021. I had been looking at it, online, in the weeks up to that date. There are key rules to follow before placing a bid on a car, especially one that is over 30 years old. These are:-
1 Always go and view the car in person
2 Try to meet the owner to get a feeling for how the car has been looked after
3 Go for a test drive
4 Make sure the car is MOTed
5 Look at a few of the same model before buying one
I ignored all of the above, registered for online bidding, followed the bids... at the end of bidding I pressed 'make a bid' as it looked cheap... I thought, someone else will bid but if I win it's ok... I patiently waited for someone else to bid... no one did... at this point I had not told my wife. She was very understanding afterwards!
Anyway, I had the car picked up and delivered to me on Tuesday... it needed picking up as it has no MOT and it is 5 hours away from me.
The car looks great, drives really well and underneath is solid. She's booked in for an MOT next week.
