As some will know, I have my XE powered mk2 Cavalier as per this thread: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/212762/1983-vauxhall-cavalier-6gl-c20xeNot long ago, it broken down and I was unable to fix it so it's currently waiting to go to Zidan Motorsport to be fully forged and turbo converted. In the meantime, I saw this up for sale and just had to have it. Rare as hens teeth and all. 1985 Nissan Cherry 1.5 8v turbo 56k 3 owners Previous restoration Standard except some lowering springs I believe and a backbox.       Plans are for a new stainless steel exhaust, some servicing and then maintain and enjoy it. No plans to go wild with this one as it's too good to mess about with. Also need to change those horrid number plates. |

Living just up the road from Nissan, I knew people working at the plant. The R&D tech centre had 'rigs' for pre production testing motors.... Turbos included. Stories of "pwoarr... What'll it do, mistah?" ... err ... Saturday mornings are legend.  Lovely car, m8 OVIMOR |

Those seats in the 1980s were a long way from subtle!  I think the last time I saw one these was about 1991 as most were rusty by then... I thought they were fantastic. |

As the Turbo model was an import, there was no underseal hence them dying so early on lol!

Since my last post, little red has had a busy few weeks. First up was a major service. Plugs, ignition leads, oil filter, fuel filter, coilpack, gearbox oil, engine oil, auxiliary belt, timing belt all replaced. I replaced all the exterior light bulbs as well. Changed the lowering springs to 40mm but the front doesn't sit how I want so I've bought some Polo 6n2 front coilovers as they fit with some minor adjustment so the front will sit better soon. Also found some 10mm spacers on the back which was a nice surprise. Then it was off to APH Performance Engineering to get the exhaust sorted. Changed from a 1.75" bore to a 2.25" bore with a period looking 3.5" outward rolled tip. New exhaust fits and sits a lot better and sounds even better. Alongside the service, she runs so smooth. Can't get enough of driving her. Also had the wheels taken off, balanced and re-fitted alongside wheel alignment which has helped the drive so much. Final piece was having Retro Plates make some smaller plates with a period font. I would have had dealer plates made but just can't find any information on who that was. Few pictures at the bottom from the West London Classics meet at Car Audio Security the other day.  Fits in the garage quite well.  Quick pic next to old blue while she was awaiting recovery to the garage for the full engine rebuild.  Can see the Cav lurking in the back feeling left out lol.              I do need to get a vid of the new exhaust at some point. |

This is amaze. Don't think I've ever seen one in the metal, closest I can think of is a local guy who had a Cherry Turbo converted K10 Micra about 20 years ago.

Cool survivor, nice to see something like this getting some more love and being used. BITD I’d have been sniffy about it for being a Nissan but not now. Loving the seats more than I should.
