I realise this isn't necessarily retro yet but I haven't seen another on the roads around me in Bristol so jdm rare it is. I bought it site unseen from Ebay as it was fairly cheap & well maintained. It has the better black leather interior, so a bit more vip. So far I've been sharing this as a commuter car along with my v35 skyline. It's done 2 nice drives to South Devon & Hereford & the drive is wonderful. I plan on an engine service on the bullet proof 2jz engine before the usual mods including stainless exhaust, coilovers & some vip wheels. My mate builds custom bodykits & is currently building a kit for the Gs based on the Lexus is200 drift kit. I'm planning on being kit 2 out of the moulds around Xmas time I need to work out width & offsets for the best wheel fitment & source some quality coilovers. My mate has a very clean stainless exhaust that has a slightly deeper rumble than my standard exhaust so hoping to pinch that next week.

I really like these big Toyotas and have had a selection of jz powered stuff, including three of these jzs161s - I'm excited to see how this comes out. This one looks nice - facelift with the black interior looks great! I was always after a "oem+" type look with mine and so never fitted an aftermarket bodykit, but found that with the factory aero, 19x9 +30ish was a good fit. The ones pictured below are 19x9 +33 Audi rs5 Wheels and the car was a JDM version 'Aristo Vertex Edition'. Lowering them is easy enough but just watch the front upper arms have a strange looking and really tall balljoint which hits the underside of the inner guard on bump once you go much lower than stock. There may be a solution available these days. I also found that the sway bar tended to crank around and rub on the front pulley once you got low enough, so just keep an eye on that too! I had a (rare) factory 'Torsen' LSD out of a jzz30 or jza80 in my last one, along with the matching turbo half shafts. If you want to go sideways you'll need to find a way to disable the stability control (VSC) as it's not switchable. On mine I rigged up a relay so that when you pressed the TRC button, it also interrupted the signal (white wire IIRC) from the yaw sensor and if you held it for more than 1 sec it put VSC into limp mode and killed VSC for that ignition cycle.

Managed to bag some perfect fitment wheels by chance today. These were advertised on marketplace as 10j & 11j which I thought I'd buy for the skyline so drove 2hrs south to find they were 9j & 10j. After an agreement with the seller I bought them with nothing to really put them on. I trial fitted them on the lexbus & they're a perfect fit. So tyres & coilovers next. Plans now include colour coding the lower half of the car to match the wheels. I'm cat hung up with a mate next week to cut off my backbones & fit some downpipe tips.

A mate asked to go with him to view some wheels for a nissan skyline. Advertised at 19" diameter & 10j front & 11j rear offset 20. So off we went 2hrs south to Fareham in Hampshire. After checking out the condition of the wheels my mate went to pay only to realise that the wheels are actually 9j & 10j wide. He was not a happy chappy! Fortunately for me though these are perfect sizes for the Lexus. So did a deal & bought them a lot cheaper than Advertised. So here they are 5zigen proracer zr wheels with rare centre caps. I purchased 225/35 & 255/35 tyres which should arrive tomorrow. I'm going to fit them at the weekend to see if I can get away with lowering springs which are £180 compared to coilovers at £750.

Decent weather today so stripped all the old suspension & fitted my hsd coilovers. Took ages to set the ride height as this my daily so still needs to be practical.

Bookmarked Motorway mileage is pretty good, I averaged 35mpg last trip out. Town driving is really bad but I knew that when I bought it. Currently my only car as I've sold all my other toys. Any pics of the Ls400. I had a pearl white one a few years back.

Watch out for the electric brake boosters on these. If it carries on whirring away too long after start-up its on its way out, and even a used one is around a grand.

You are making that into a beautiful looking car, Love the way the mods, (so far,) are really subtle but all work so well together, (Sorry, gear knob not for me though, lol,) Looking forward to seeing future updates on this thread, Nigel

Thanks for the positive feedback, I'm loving this old tank again. Finally got round to painting the genuine TTE grille in Millenium metallic silver. Really pleased with the colour match. Just bought some rare blue tint wind deflectors so fit those soon. Plan on modifying front & rear bumpers soon.

Decided the interior needed a bit more custom work. A mate of mine was having some real carbon parts skinned so I decided to add some interior bits too the pile. Gear surround & 4 door trims all finished in black carbon. I've also had some custom work done on the front & rear bumpers but I haven't had chance to wash the car & get decent pics.
