My 77 MGB that I bought from a friend and needed some work. The car was stock except for having a home made Toyota W58 swap. Off the bat it needed the brake system rebuilt and the suspension totally redone. It's lowered and full poly bushings done. From there it's escalated to a K24/K20 swap mated to the W58.
The day I got the car
Painted the wheels and got rid of the heavy rubber bumpers
Had to change the wheels. These are Work Ewing III wheels in 15x7+10. I still have them and want to get the lips polished.
The stock seats were comfy enough but I needed some more side bolstering. Found some cheap NA Miata seats.
After doing lots of research and drooling over engine swaps I settled on doing a K24 swap.
All thanks to finding out about the McGregor Motorsport bellhousing that mates a K series to the W58 that was already on the car. It uses all stock parts but I had to go with an internal slave cylinder because of the narrow trans tunnel. McGregor also makes other bellhousings for other engine/trans swaps.
Everything put together ready to go into the car
Custom header I made with a bunch of premade bends, a grinder, and my fluxcore welder. The grinder also makes it look pretty.
The radiator I had was too small and this one was already better than the stock. This rad is from a Falcon that fits nicely between the narrow frame.
Applicable plate
Engine bay
I do autoX a few times a year. My 05 Saabaru is the tow rig and does pretty well
Got to park next to my car's little brother, a Midget. Also got rid of the soft top for a hard top I put plexiglass windows into.
Engine bay glamor shot. Full specs on the engine are K24A4 block, K24A2 internals, K20Z3 head, K20 oil pump S2K intake TB and injectors, custom header, 3" exhaust, all run by an AEM EMS4. The engine is also pushed back 6" from stock. Rough weight measurement puts the car at 2200 lbs wet and has a 48/52 weight balance.
The next project. A narrowed Ford 8.8 will cost me much less than an LSD for the factory rear. It's out of a first gen Ranger with a 3.08 LSD, the stock is a 3.9 rear and I need a little less RPM on the interstate. This will also give me discs in the rear and is slightly wider than the stock axle.
