For sale is my 1984 Peugeot 205, this is one of the earliest 205's in existence today; it was registered on January 7th 1984. It's a 1.1 Douvrin engine which is chain driven, it's covered just over 157,000 and most of this was done by the car's first owner who only sold it as he retired from driving being in his 90's.
I'm actually the car's 2nd and 4th owner, the car's 3rd owner did a great job of restoring some areas of the car that became age worn like the interior for example.
My original plan was to have this car exhibited in a motor museum but I have missed the boat for this season so I do not want to leave the car outside over the winter having been mostly indoors throughout it's life thus far.
The body is in great condition, perhaps one of the most rust free 205's I have ever seen, the paint is good enough for it's age and there doesn't seem to be any obvious damage on the car, it's near on 100% period specific, with all the original 84 specific bits there from what I can see.
The car is manual choke which is somewhat different if you've never had one before! The engine still pulls well for a 1.1 but is of course quite clattery being the Suitcase engine. The gearbox is four speed and has a crunch on 3rd but again, it's a very old drivetrain system so expected I guess!
I had the radiator replaced for the last MOT which runs until March 2022, it's had a pretty decent history for MOTs which you can view online.
The underside of the car and inside the panels has been undersealed so no rust is present, and no doubt won't be an issue in years to come.
The car drives very nicely but I'm simply not using it, it sits from month to month and needs to be enjoyed by someone or stashed away until there's none left and sold on for a decent profit.
The only downsides of this car are, I found one of the rear doors won't open which maybe down to lack of usage or a mechanism repair, I think I have a spare here for it either way, also the brake pedal will sometimes sink lower than the initial press, it'll stop the car, just can be somewhat un-nerving if you're not expecting it! I have a replacement rear cylinder here to go with the car though.
All in all, this is a lovely 205 and one that would really suit taking to shows and being someone's pride and joy, not many A reg ones come up and that isn't likely to ever change. I'm not interested in selling to anyone likely to wreck the car and I'm not in a huge rush to sell it.
Any other questions, feel free to ask! Email me please as I don't get notifications unless I log in, which I rarely do : mic.films@hotmail.com
