The motorhome project internal rebuild is now almost complete, our trips around the UK in her don’t seem all that far away now, just a little further to go with the internals, then we need to concentrate on the mechanical side of things like replacing deteriorated rubber components for the suspension, and replacing more braking parts.
The door step into the motorhome is finished with aluminium checker plate. The price of sheet Aluminium is through the roof. I was originally quoted £113 for 4 fairly small pieces of metal from eBay which I thought was plain ridiculous, and so we never bought that. We ended up going to a local steel holder, and they wanted £100. In the end we didn’t buy the two end plates, and managed to then get the 2 plates for £60 including vat, which frankly I still feel is a stupid price for a small amount of sheet metal.
The headboard for the lower double bed is finished with lovely material. With Samantha’s guidance, this has turned out lovely.
Samantha has also been having a bit of a clean up around inside, now a lot of the dirty, dusty work is complete.
At the end of the video we take a sunny day trip to Brean Sands in Somerset, but not with the motorhome. We took advantage of some super parking directly on to the beach. Both Samantha and I, and our German Shepherd dog had a great day just chilling, walking along the beach, and we went for a drink at the local beach front cafe. We are hoping to take the motorhome there for a day trip, or even a night stopover, if we can find a nice overnight spot to use.

FIRST TOUR of the almost completed interior of the classic American motorhome project. Not a bad outcome for something that was a salvage wreck in July last year. What do you think of our Indiana, do you think it was worth our efforts?

We have been able to almost finish all of the brake and steering work pretty much apart from one flexible brake hose. We mention a couple of Youtubers during this episode. Many Fun Adventures: www.youtube.com/c/ManyFunAdve... Roaming In Raymond Motorhome Adventures: www.youtube.com/c/RoaminginRa... The Ford Econoline E350 American RV is a heavy old vehicle to stop in a hurry, and given our family will be using the RV it is very important for me to know the brakes are safe. We have now carried out the following brake related work ahead of it's first UK MoT test; - Front brake pads - Done - Front callipers rebuilt with new seals and dust covers - Done - Rear brake shoes and fitting kit - Done - Both rear wheel cylinders - Done - Both front flexible brake hoses - Done - Rear axle both copper/nickel brake pipes. Made our own brake pipes - Done - Brake fluid renewed throughout - Done The rear brakes will need some further adjustment ahead of the MoT, and as I said, I also intend to replace the rear axle flexible brake hose. The air filter element has been replaced, along with the last remaining spark plug of the eight that we were having problems reaching. That was made easier when we removed the air conditioning pump that is not required. We have a target date for an MoT of before 10th June, will we meet that date? We might be held up, as we need to find 6 new tyres for the American RV as I do not wish to take chances with old tyres when we are out on the road. Lots of age cracking evident. Very satisfying build work completed this week, some big changes from the salvage wreck we bought.

After about 19 years of being stood up off the road, our salvage American RV is driving superbly!
Until now we had no idea if for example the gearbox or axle would function correctly, but we are pleased to say she drives beautifully, and no rattles or squeaks from the internal build, at least on the very short test drive we carried out.
Shame for those disbelievers who said she would never see the road again LOL.

This weekend we took our classic American RV to a nearby caravan and motorhome site to test her out overnight. We stopped at the Syerscote Meadow campsite at Haunton near Tamworth in Staffordshire, about 15 minutes from where we live in Tamworth. What could go wrong?

Should we re-apply the 1980s design graphic stripes or do you like the Motorhome with the Oyster White and Grey paintwork, let us know what you think.
