Personally I would oil it, paint or varnish tend to crack as the timber moves - either naturally due to drying out/ getting damp or as the body it is attached to flexes during travel.

In this latest video we continue the build of the lovely big shower and the two kitchen areas. Last week we said we would bring to you a good video this week, and we hope we have met our promise made.

In this video our motorhome furniture rebuild continues with the building of overhead cupboards and cabinets in the living room area. Work also continues with the making of the sink unit and sorting problems with the waterworks.

In today's video we build the kitchen, bedroom and living room overhead cupboard doors, which are then installed.

The cupboard doors are made from MDF wood. This is then sealed with a PVA sealant, preventing moisture from getting to the MDF until we paint it. The doors are hung using flush cranked hinges. The locker or cupboard doors are then held closed using antique coloured double roller catches. The designed shape of each door follows the shape of each of the motorhome window frames.

Now its 2022, our vintage RV motorhome salvage rebuild project lovingly named Indiana begins a new year. In this video we continue with the from scratch kitchen build, we tackle the painting of the internal cupboards, including compressed air spray painting, and Rob continues with his woodworking skills, and takes to making something special out of wood for the motorhome. 🛠🖌

--> -- Six months ago our newly bought huge 5.7 litre V8 powered 1986 classic American Ford motorhome was in the unadventurous view of some, fit only for the scrap-heap pile.

Being big lovers of older vehicles, my wife and I fell in love with the RV as soon as we saw her, and knew she needed to come home with us - which she did the next day on the back of a 26 tonnes transporter.

Having been imported into the UK and sat around not used on the road since 2003, there were many holes in the roof, and you needed to be careful where you walked, in fear of falling through the rotten timber floor.

With a LOT of hard work, and what feels like half the stock holding of the local timber merchants, we have turned 'Indiana' into a motorhome that will once again be ready for road adventures in the summer. Of course, there is still more work to do, but we are very proud of the old girl !

Our salvage rebuild 1980's American motorhome is having the kitchen areas tiled using domestic gloss white Metro ceramic wall tiles.

At last we have been able to paint the cupboard doors and the paint has cured this time.
