Oh yes insurance companies……a law unto themselves Every single one liars and underhand people The worst one being the one with man telling us how much our cars are worth and how he’d love to own one in every classic mag….I don’t even read his comments nowadays Concentrate on your companies poor service and not leech of genuine classic owners

Profuse apologies for being insufficiently psychic to guess your point in mentioning a subject. I am still at a loss. It was just meant as another example of how old stuff is marketed as "new and revolutionary"; I probably should have chosen a less contentious subject.

My wife was rear ended by a Land Rover in our Volvo, around 18 years ago. We were with Direct Line. I took it to Volvo, a Ford dealer in my village, and a local accident repair garage. Ford dealer £1300, Volvo £1800, independent over £2500.
Direct Line said I could take it to the Ford or Volvo dealer but anything over the price I had been given I would be liable to pay but they ended up writing it off when I didn’t agree.
A mate of mine worked at a local scrappy, and used to go to the independent that gave me the highest quote, to pick up the scrap metal bins. He said that they used to order brand new panels and throw them straight in the skip, and repair the bent panels on the car.
