MK1 son has just got my '85 range rover through it's first MOT for 15 years, but he's been told he can't have a printed certificate 'because of covid!' Unfortunately I wasn't with him, but I don't believe it, and now of course he can't tax it because it's not updated on the system yet. Anyone else had this?

MOT systems updates immediately. It’s nothing to do with COVID, the DVSA guidance currently is to only issues notices when there are advisories, pass with defects or a fail. Straight passes are only ‘meant’ to be printed when requested. If the system hasn’t updated then the test hasn’t been logged. You can print a duplicate certificate from the MOT history check on the Gov.UK. Website.

DVSA now say there’s no need to give a certificate , but if the customer requests one then one should be issued .
This is because it’s all online now .
As far as i’m aware , the DVSA website updates immediately , so should be able to tax online straight away .
Beaten to it .
Need faster fingers !! 😂

Checked the govt system and its still showing as no details held? Should say I don't really trust this test centre, but they were the only one with appointments for weeks Think I now know why........🙁

Just rang them Apparently a 'B' prefix was registered in 1964!! No, that would be a 'B' suffix, which wouldn't need an MOT anyway Anybody seen a 1964 Range rover classic anywhere? 🙄

Oops, mistakes do happen though, did they seem fair enough on the rest of the test?

[br who knows? It does actually show at holding a valid MOT now, so that's something I've told him to keep a hardcopy in the car dodgerover, they are locally renown for useless Mots, he said he didn't think much of the test anyway, they obviously saw all the new bits, welding etc etc and thought ' that'll do!' Wipers/washers not tested and so on I've half a mind to report it

I've had four cars tested in the last two months (two of which are not required to have tests) and received hard copies of all certificates and emissions printouts without asking..... It's a quality establishment though....

Yeah, the other car I had Motd at my usual garage a couple of weeks ago gave me printouts unasked. Unfortunately they were fully booked for weeks, otherwise it'd have gone there
