the worst part and the main reason the guy was going to scrap it is the rot in the full screen surround panel ....[available new] again i have one from a previous build
i also have new innr cills i folded from 1.5 mm steel and a seat x member and i think a set of narrow out cills
the subfrme mounting panel is in tact and the threads are ok from what i remember and yes thats an old oil drum full of plop left in there from when it was getting scrapped
plan was fit new rear lower panel new rear quarter panels out and inner cills and steps
new full scuttle and reinforce the hinge pillars ...then i can decide on running gear not sure wether to leave it as bl intended or update as the A series just isnt going to cut the mustard even in tuned form and if i spent my folding playing with a 1275 or watever i would only pull it out shortly afterwards so options ime not interested in a bike engine or z car type thing but maybe mazda mx5 or something along those lines

this for me was the most daunting part removing the rusty remains of the windscreen surround panel from the roof skin they're not spot welded they are roller welded so had to be very careful to remove and grind away only the underside leaving the roof skin lip without being thinned to much as when its gone to far your buggered would have to deseam it i guess or fit a new section,........ so patience was the name of the game ...not something ime known for but we didnt do to bad there was plenty of surface rust n the inside but cleaned up ok looks horrendous but to be honest i think its run of the mill mini rust its quite a straight little shell and very good in lots of places

Very brave project! I scrapped better lol. Nice work, Like Mini's (original & BMW,) but with my size I'd need one for each foot !! Really looking forward to seeing the updates on this thread, Nigel I can fit in every mini including the original! 6ft and size 12 feet no issues! You can get seat slider extenders for the classics. In fact the seat in my 2nd gen bini goes back to far for me to reach peddles lol.

something along these lines as an end result without the dodgy rear spoiler though I kinda like the dodgy rear spoiler, it's the bonnet that doesn't work for me.
