as above come across ths from a freind of a freind never had experience of one so they any good reliable ect or are they over complicated with loads of electrickery thinking it may be great for a project

I assume you mean x308? Timing chain tensioners are weak and need replacing with stronger ones. Early ones had nikasil bore issues but if they're ok now then they'll be fine. The engines are lovely high revving alloy v8s. Gearboxes are strong but they aren't sealed for life' as Jag said when they were new

Fabulous engine, lightweight and powerful. As said timing chains can wear especially on older higher milage stuff, but chain kits aren't too expensive and are relatively easy to change (for a V8!), especially if the engine is out of the car. The gearbox might be a Mercedes Benz unit, depending on the year.
