I'm going to put an access door in the gable end of my garage. The garage wall is a single skin with an internal block work pier internally.
Whilst not ideal my thoughts are to put the door adjoining this pier as to offer additional support; I have been advised I should build an additional block work pier on the other side of the door frame. What's the consensus on this? Overkill or nessesary evil.
I5s also my intention to have the threshold of the door level/on top of the finished floor level of the garage. My know-it-all tells me I need to pick it up and put it on the first course of bricks, but I don't want to be stepping through a portal and tripping up everything I go in and out. I think he's talking rubbish but he has sowen a seed of doubt.
Cheers
